  1. I would try and get one from a junkyard or dismantler or something first. That or try calling some high end audio shops around you and see if they have any lying around from upgrading other customers. Or try sunset, I think they sell at cost plus 10% or something like that. How much labor are they charging you? It takes about all of 10 minutes to replace the amp. You wont need any special tools. If I remember right the amp is held in with two 10mm hex head bolts. You don't need a radio code either.
  2. So has anyone actually replaced any parts/seals or do they just keep recharging it? Does the noise occur when the ac is off?
  3. Yes. The CPO warranty will cover intermediate shaft failure. The engine will be rebuilt if possible (no damage to the cylinders/case halfs) and if not a reman engine (with the newer design) will be installed. In fact I would say buy the 05 and hope it fails.
  4. Porsche DID provide updated maps for PCM 2.0 in the US. Check my last post for the part number.
  5. Chances are your window regulator is worn out. There are a few things that can cause this issue but the window regulator accounts for 95% of them. See if you can hear the window motor work for a split second when you open the door handle. If you can hear it, all the switches and the motor are working correctly and its just the window regulator is worn out.
  6. Lights that point outward? Um what? Are you talking about the cornering lights?
  7. Ok so yesterday Porsche just released new technical information, it is now possible to update an 04 Cayenne with the MY08 maps but you need a different kit. The part number for the update is 000.044.901.21. You need to have PCM 2 with software version 3.0 to use this.

Its possible that you might feel it shift differently due to changes in shift strategy by the control unit due to the transmission fluid temp being at a slightly different temperature than whats optimal.... but I highly doubt it. Pulling vacuum on the valve will tell you quickly if its bad or not. Its a pretty common failure.
  9. PTEC, you got me thinking a little bit more about this. My AMP software is 00017600 (hardware: 997.645.334.33), but the .inf file on the Update CD 2 has a section for updating the Bose amp to 017500. Should I modify the CD to delete the Bose reference in the INF file so that I can keep my current, updated Bose software? I thought this would be a fun DIY project, but I should have just taken the darn thing into the dealer from the get go. I wouldn't worry about deleting or modifying anything on the cd. Since your amp software is current it wont try and update the amp when you insert the disc. One more thing that confuses a lot of people when doing this update is make sure you insert 000.044.901.40 into the DVD drive and not into the PCM.
  10. Hello John I've seen that u managed to update PCM and also got the lastest DVD Maps for Europe. I'd be interested to update my father's Cayenne. It's a 2004 model, and last update is from 2006 . Can u help me please with those update CD's (Level B & C ) and 2008 DVD Maps ? Please upload them on rapidshare.com. It's very fast and i already have a Premium Account there. Thank you The MY08 maps will not work on your fathers Cayenne, they are only for Cayennes with PCM 2.1 (05 - 08).
  11. Tell them everynow and then the PCM wont turn on or it wont play sound. Who knows you might walk out of there with a whole new sound system! Definitely complain about the rear hatch and rear glass not staying up. Clunk when braking is good (control arm bushings and free alignment!) Check the rear washer nozzle and make sure its not clogged. Hell maybe even say you've noticed coolant under the engine and you may end up with free coolant pipes! Of course this is all dependent on how slow your local service department is... If there really is no problems they might tell you they found nothing.
  12. I dont have any experience with aftermarket cats, sorry. If you had a better relationship with your dealer they would probably be able to push the cats through under the federal emissions warranty which is 7 years or 70,000 miles or 8/80,000 I believe since you live in CA. I'm not really sure if that will apply to you though since you're so heavily modded. Have you tryed that route through your dealer?
  13. 05.2006 will technically work as far as I know but thats not the MY08 map data. The disc should be 08.2007 as you mentioned. Was the kit opened when you got it? Who did you buy it from?
  14. If your car is a tip don't forget to check the vacuum operated coolant valve on the tiptronic heat exchanger. Its also known to fail and cause these faults. Also check the vacuum resevoir. The change over valve and the non return valve are easy to find. Just follow the hose coming off the secondary air pump as it runs under the bank 1 intake manifold. If you have the right tools you can manage to get them out without removing the intake.
  15. Chances are both of your fan resistors are toast. If the fans are working on any speed, the fuses are good. If you've swapped the high and low speed relays, then the relays are fine. The only thing left in the equation is the resistors. The good news is you can buy them seperately from the entire fan and they're easy to change.
  16. You need to see what version of software you currently have. You need to have Model Level B to use the MY08 maps. If you have Model Level A or B you can buy the MY08 update that Porsche is selling now and it will include everything you need. However if you have the standard version, which is version 04035 you will need another update cd to get you to Model Level A first. Being that your car is from late 06 I would practically guarantee that you have at least Model Level A, if not Level B. There are plently of threads here on how to determine what version of PCM software you have.
  17. I dont think you're going to find Porsche's recommendation for an 11 wheel on a boxster. 11 inch rears are only available from Porsche on the 997.
  18. I wouldn't waste your time or money with this. Most people who have it find TPMS more of a pain than anything. I would say do it the old fashion way.
  19. I understand what you're saying, you're on the right track. Upgrading to the MY08 maps is a bit of a pain in the arse if you have a early 05 with the 04035 software. You should be able to order Model level A update from the dealer though I imagine it would be pretty expensive. It might be worth it to just pay the dealer to update you to model level A. It shouldn't be any more than an hour of labor to do. Once you're updated to model level A the kit you bought has everything else you need. Also be glad the dealer updated your AMP under warranty because most likely the one that was installed in your car from the factory would not have been compatible with the new software.
  20. Its actually not an uncommon failure. They probably would have failed whether you were modded or not.
  21. I haven't driven a PDK car yet but I would imagine it behaves just like a tiptronic does. If you press the down button when the revs are too high to downshift it just ignores it.
  22. Is the latch trying to latch before the top is in position? Does the Durametric show actual values for cabtop microswitches?
  23. Here is the latest information from Porsche on what size winter wheels and tires will work on a widebody vehicle. This should give you an idea of what offsets will work.
  24. Sorry to say it but the window lift mechanism (aka window regulator) is NOT covered by the CPO warranty. Figures since its practically the only thing that goes wrong with the windows... Too bad it wasnt you're window motor cause thats covered!
