  1. You can go to dealer and ask ther service advisor to try a new cartridge on yours. CDC4 and CDC 3 use same cartridge. The cd tray should slide out easily. Try spraying some WD40 on the hinge of the cartridge with the cd's out and trays swong out. I work in SJ on 1st St and can hook you up too.
  2. tighten the cap should turn off the CEL. it's an OBDII thing. common on all cars.
  3. One 1000ml bottle should have plenty left after bleeding all 4 corners. Typically, i use up 750ml. Keeping the master cyclinder filled with new fluid is important. As soon as it runs low, air get sucked in. Keeping the bleedning screws undamaged is important as you will bleed often. use an enclosed wrench instead of an open box wrench. lastly keep the fluid away from painted surface including garage floors. wear double gloves and safety glasses
  4. The best way is to remove the plugs after 30k to see if they are soiled or burnt. I must say 60k sounds a little long for duration. I would probly change mine or at least inspect them at 30k mi. I think they are pretty easy to do if you work on your ride. Anything I can do to improve efficiency and performance is worth the time and parts money. Those that can't wrench will pay hundreds to be raped.
  5. Nah, spending $80k and getting a used demo isn't a good idea. I'd get a new C4S if there any or a normally driven (not demo) C4S for around $65k. Porsche salesperson often encourage fast driving to impress driver. Those miles are not carefully driven and not properly broken in. If you still want to spend $80k+, order a 997 C2 or C4 S. The 997S are much faster than 996 C4S.
  6. You warranty covers all leaks and has the same coverage as original 4 yr warranty from Porsche. Rental car is also covered. I'd go get the oil leak fixed asap. This way, if it comes back later, you still have come warranty coverage. Once your 2yr warranty expires, it's really up to the dealer on whether they'll cover any repairs. During RMS, they'll drain your engine oil and tranny oil. For spark plugs, they aren't that hard and if you are due, get them changed.
  7. From the pics, it looks like the oil build up is in center of engine around where engine and tranny mates. Looks like RMS to me but more pics of the leaking area would help. Cam cover would be from the side of the engine. Didn't see that in your pics. Since your car is certified, I suggest that you check your dealer's reputation on repairs. JD power keeps a CSI score of each dealer. Check many Porsche forums and ask about reputation of your dealer. If there is another dealer that has better service, go there instead even if it's 100mi away. Trust me, you want this to be repaired right so it doesn't come back. Your dealer lied to you about service history so that's the first sign of mistrust. Porsche should give you a rental car for the duration of the repair (1-2 days). Sometimes they'll remove the engine to make sure all the oil leaks are taken care off. Cam cover leaks are on side of the car and hard to see without engine removal. While the car is in the shop, ask the mechanic to check other fluid leaks such as coolant, power steering, brake fluid, tranny. Good luck and thank god you have warranty!
  8. the dry lube Kryloc can be used on all convertible mechanism, window sills, rubber mating surface etc. i think wd40 is a solvent that shouldn't be used on rubber. silicon maybe ok but is messier compared to Kryloc. whenever my dealer fixes my top for noise, i get kryloc residue so i know that's what should be used on most areas. door hinge, jamb, hood latch etc can be sprayed with silicon or wet grease. my advice is not to use wd40 since it's bad for rubber and tend to dissolve the grease you have left. it may fix the noise temporarily but it'll come back.
  9. dealer can trace the belt noise to locate the issue (pulley, idler, alternator, water pump, ac pulley etc). if not, drive it for a 50 mi and see if the whine still persists. some component of the pse isn't installed correctly or is missing. is the valve operable (on/off)? it's definitely link to the engine replacement. maybe they can recheck all the parts on your pse w/ a parts diagram to make sure every piece is transferred to the new engine and double check that all the parts are properly fitted. if they can't fix it, go to another dealer.
  10. What a funky color interior! Someone is living in the 70s!!
  11. Yup use porsche antifreeze as it's lifetime. Add distilled water also to prevent mineral build up.
  12. I doubt it's your fan since the fan doesn't usually turn on while you are going 120mph with plenty of air going in. Fan is usually kicked on when you are in traffic and engine getting too hot. Check coolant level and maybe your thermo stat for blockage/failure
  13. I'd not buy the C4S given that it was a demo at dealer. New car that was test driven repeatedly without proper break-in is not what you want in a high end car. Order it new. You'll have the option to get exactly what you want.
  14. Sounds like you've spent a lot of effort trying to fix it. Just a thought: Why not have the dealer fix it since you are covered under warranty? If you are far from a dealer, ask the sales/service people to see if disable of horn in showroom.
  15. Keep us posted on what stevens creek tells you. BTW, I like Carlsen. I think they charge a little more than stevens creek but they do a great job in repairs.
  16. 3rd party insurer usually will flake out on paying by denying claim or paying so little that dealer won't do the work. If the car has been pretty reliable, I wouldn't bother paying a couple of g. Put the money aside as repair money.
  17. That's weird, it doesn't look like someon tried to break in. Self inflicted shatter :D
  18. do a search on zaino. it's the longest lasting polish. less shine than zymol but at least you don't have to reapply every 2-3 car wash. it put zaino 2x a year and put some wax on top if i need more shine.
  19. hmmm, i like stock orange better. blue just doesn't fit with the look unless the dial face is changed to white or some other lighter color.
  20. I think all those items can just be pried and pulled. If you already hardwired V1, I imagine you can do the same for the GPS, no?
  21. A family sedan sounds like a better idea. With a child seat in back, you won't get enough room in front for an adult so you won't be able to take your family. A booster seat works with an adult in front. By the time your child is 4-5 yo, get a 996/997.
  22. Just remove the air vent and you'll be able to re-clip the rod that broke off. It merely reclips. Don't know why yours broke easy. You can always bring it in under warranty too. Air vent can be removed by taking out a torx screws on the side. Remove any tabs that may have hidden torx screws.
  23. Just go back and exchange it to the right oil. Diesels are of differnt design so oil isn't compatible.
  24. Not sure how much coolant you need but your manual would have that info. It's got to be several gallons. You might have to fill up the coolant several times after the flush to completely get it filled. Air trapped in the lines will be removed after a few minutes of idle. You will then fill and repeat this several times. I think P car coolant is pretty expensive so $200 is probly not much more than parts cost.
  25. Yup, have someone do it. The only piece you can do yourself is hood, fenders, headlights, mirrors. Hood is a little challenging but not impossible. Bumper is extremely hard and you need professional help on that. Get someone to do it after delivery or at the dealership. Typical install aftermarket is $600, about 1/2 the cost that dealer charges you. If possible, get a full bumper coverage. Most bumper coverages in just frontal area of cover that doesn't wrap all the way around to the wheel arch. It'll cost you more but would eliminate lines. 3M tends to be more stiff so install is more difficult as you'll need to pull the film to apply. Get a film w/ lifetime warranty and an installer who can backup his work. Look for referal on this forum by doing a search for clear bra. It's one of the best $600 you can spend to protect your car and keep it virually new. Only downside is the line on hood / fender when you look at it up close. It's better than chips on the paint I tell you.
