  1. Where do you get this weather stripping? Is it foam or rubber? Thanks!
  2. The dash area on passenger side squeeks. I've tightened the torx screw on the side vent and dash speaker. I think the noise is coming from the passenger airbag cover. Is there a way I can remove the frong passenger airbag cover to put some felt or lube to quiet the noise? It sounds like leather or vinyl rubbing and does this when I hit rough pavement.
  3. Wait for the 997 based GT3. More power, better interior in suede and more aggresive looks.
  4. Just check for seams to make sure it's sewed or glued on securely. Ask warranty - how long and coverage. Get plexus or a good plastic cleaner/conditioner for the window. Always park with the top up for extended amt of time to avoid wrinkling the top and window.
  5. you found la dismantler? be aware of that place. they often tell you they have something when they don't. also, their parts are often damaged badly -- taken from salvaged cars.
  6. Get a new tube but it maybe hard to swap given the tight space. If you aren't handy, you may want to have a shop do this. Dealer will probly charge an hour of labor tops. No sense in expoying the part as doing this often doesn't seal the crack completely and the hot engine heat will only weaken the bond. I don't see a reason to fix this on the cheap. How will you know you have a perfect bond in that tight engine bay?
  7. Do you need the silver alum door pull or the black handle? If silver alum door pull, I have a new set.
  8. any suspension mod? are your tires/wheels stock size? check wheel liner to see if it's loose. check any rubbing in wheel well.
  9. Take a drive after wash! Usually moving the car will allow the water to drain out. Once car is back in parked position (in garage for example, run the towel around the edge. Leave the car to dry over night. If you do have some water mark afterwards, just use a detail spray. Meguire has a nice one, Eagle and others work well too.
  10. top can be cleaned with water only most of time. only wash it 2x a year with shampoo. i use porsche top cleaner and protectant. not expensive at all for wheels, just use water. the painted wheels are smooth and don't require any scrubbing. just a towel. if you need to remove baked on brake dust, try a little wheel cleaner - most brands will do.
  11. wash it yourself. it's a 30 min job every 2 weeks. otherwise, find a handwash place but most have tire guides. the brushing and shampoo isn't good for the top's durability. top only needs shampooing every 3-6 month. overwashing wears it and reduces waterproofing. a detail shop is another option but that gets expensive.
  12. take it to dealer ASAP esp it's under warranty. it could be exhaust or engine.
  13. i would use ramps. it's simple to drive up to it and allows you to inspect suspension, detect any oil leak. ramps are $25 only.
  14. Looks like any joe smog shop should be fine. It has to be in the county that the car is registered.
  15. Ditto on what Orient Express said. If it is RMS, definitely make sure the oil filter is changed (which isn't done unless asked). You'll need to change the cabin filter as well (5 min close to the battery under front trunk). You said you are losing oil but the oil level hasn't dropped. Check oil level when engine is cold with the dip stick when car is flat. The pic doesn't seem like RMS to me either.
  16. Have them fix the RMS under warranty and have the car fully inspected. Have coolant and other fluids checked. Pay for an oil filter change and oil itself should be free while RMS is done. 2 birds with one stone.
  17. Does that door only go up 45 degrees as in the pics? Seems like it'll be hard to get in/out with only a little room esp since car is low. Is there some DOT regulartion that requires doors to open with a certain clearance for safety reason. Lambo doors go much more vertical I believe.
  18. A wheel repair shop can definitely fix it. Check your yellow pages for wheel repair or ask your dealer for referral. I think there is one in Oregon that's good (can't recall name) but you're better of finding someone near by that can possibly do the repair locally to minimize downtime. Some even do mobile repair. For the chip, bondo is used to fill it. Then the area is sanded and repainted.
  19. I just did mine. It took about an hour. Filter and oil was $60 in parts. If you are handy, you can easily do this with some hand tools, car ramp. I do all my cars (5 total) so I save a bundle. If you only have one car and would rather save the hassle, $170 is pretty reasonable.
  20. Bose has 11 or 12 spkrs, dep on cab or coupe. I think the amp is different (more channels and power). I doubt you can swap. If you are trying to change your hifi to bose, i'd go aftermarket instead to save money and get best sound.
  21. I use a washing mitt when the top needs to be shampooed. Then I use a lint roller to get rid of the lint when the top dries.
  22. seems to have a lot of drivetrain replacement for a newer car with low mileage. i have to wonder about the rest of the car's reliability. transmission is another area prone to failure. also, this hurts resale as a car w original engine without any story is usually best. use this to your adv when you negotiate. is the dealer reputatable where it is serviced? a mediocre dealer would worry me since they can screw up something when making engine swap. loose hoses or something can be hard to find. definitely get a warranty (CPO) on this if there is no more warranty left.
  23. use a lint roller to pick up dust and lints. i cover the car when i park outside to avoid sun and morning dew. the protectant usually lasts 6 -10 months. not hurt in doing a wash w shampoo when it's dirty (or every 6 months) followed by the spray. for normal car wash, i usually just rinse w water. i think my top will last 10 yrs at least. knock on wood!
