  1. The clunking may be caused by worn bushings on your suspension. How does the rubber look on your front and rear control arms? Also, did the transmission rubber mount and the upper engine torque arm get replaced together with the engine mounts?
  2. Nothing to worry about with the air suspension. Only issue I had was the compressor failing after 150,000 km and replacing the compressor was not expensive. The Turbo engines have been bullet proof as your research will find, the piston slapping and cylinder scoring issues seem to plague the non turbo motors, attributed to the fact that they do not have piston cooling oil jets.
  3. I havent carried out the mount replacements so don't know if it can be done without engine removal for the turbo. Below is the statement from the maintenance manual 10-35-19. This task can only be performed in the Cayenne S (M48/00) if the engine has been removed or suspended on the body. This description covers suspension on the body. The engine must be removed on the Cayenne Turbo (M48/50) → 100119 Removing and installing V8 4.5 l engine - section on "Removing". The turbochargers are removed next. → 213021 Removing turbocharger - section on "Removing" [9PAAF1 9PAAJ1]→ 213021 21 Removing turbocharger - section on "Removing" [9PAAE1 9PAAE7].
  4. Yep, the engine mounts are hydraulic and they do settle as gbratk mentioned. The engine then transmits its vibes to the chassis without the dampening of the hydraulic mounts. Cayenne S engine mounts can be done without engine removal. Cayenne turbo needs the engine removed to replace the mounts. Regarding the idle drop, the new mounts mask the vibration felt during the sub idle condition when coming to a stop. The new mounts do not fix the root cause of the sub idle condition.
  5. Changing the transmission oil alot earlier than the recommended 240,000km would prevent alot of these wear issues as well.
  6. Congrats on the repair. Can you advise if the original speaker had any obvious damage. Was it open circuit, was the diaphragm torn etc. Also what are the dimensions of the original and replacement speakers that you used. Thanks.
  7. gbratk, when stopped, your transmission should drop to first gear when you turn the PSM off with the correct TCM software. Enjoy your new found "sport mode" ;-)
  8. I get the oil drained from the left hand intercooler hose at every oil change. There is always a cup of oil present.
  9. According to Sonnen, the latest revised part number for the coils is 948-602-104-09. sonnenporscheoemparts.com sells them for $37.39.
  10. Cam sensor faults have also been attributed to the vehicles that have extended oil service periods. Apparently the dirty oil affects the magnitude and rate of motion of the variable cam assembly, which subsequently makes the system log a fault.
  11. Publication is called Service Information Technik.Note, pump operation is for non DFI engines, the DFI operation is similar with a few extra parameters included.
  12. Sounds like you may have to inspect and confirm the disturbed plumbing inside the tank whilst changing the filter has indeed been installed securely. There is no "primary" pump on the vehicle. It's either left or right. With the activation of drivers outer door handle - left pump primes fuel rail. starting procedure: left and right pumps on Fuel tank qty >60 L right pump on full load: left and right pumps on. Fuel tank qty < 60 L left pump on. full load: left and right pumps on.
  13. The fuel filter is located under the left access cover which gives access to the left fuel pump. The fuel regulator is located under the right access cover which gives access to the right fuel pump. There is plumbing that is disturbed when changing the pump and filter. It possibly may be causing your issues if it has not been securely reconnected.
  14. Here is a table showing the pump logics. Starting procedure: left and right pumps on Fuel tank qty >60 L right pump on. High load: left and right pumps on. Fuel tank qty < 60 L left pump on. High load: left and right pumps on. Did you also change the fuel regulator with the pumps and filter?
  15. Your 2004 Cayenne S has the two hydraulic pressure switches fitted on the transmission valve body. From the PET parts list, the part number of the valve body you require is 955.325.03910. (955.325.03900 is for turbo Cayenne) www.sonnenporscheoemparts.com has your part for USD $1015.
  16. Doesn't sound like the alternator as your rear battery is being charged. Check your main battery ground lead circuit at both ends. Is it clean and torqued correctly at the grounding point at the chassis and at the main battery terminal? Checking the charge voltage at the rear battery terminals with engine on would be good as well.
  17. Common issues include front control arm bushings, cardan shaft centre bearing support, water pumps, coolant pipes, ignition coils. Transmission is solid except for the hydraulic solenoid valve body unit. Change the valve body unit when transmission starts to do hard shifts. Recommend changing transmission and drivetrain fluids at half life to extend life of components. The M48.00 engine had some issues with cylinder scoring and piston slap due to no piston cooling oil jets being fitted. The turbo M48.50 variant however has the ccoling jets and has proven to be bullet proof.
  18. What has to be the same is the 315 MHZ carrier frequency which yours are. Your dealer shouldn't have any issues programming them. Dealer will need both keys to program them to the car.
  19. Set compressed-air reducer to 0.2 bar (max 1.2 bar absolute pressure). Here is a diagram of the leak test kit installed. Arrow points to possible leak location.
  20. Both flanges as in one under the left fuel pump access cover and the other under the right fuel pump access cover. If you were to change the updated pipe they mention, you would have to access both left and right fuel pumps thereby requiring 2 new flanges and sealing rings. BTW the left side has the fuel filter, the right side has the fuel pressure regulator. Could be a good idea to change the filter when accessing the left side.
  21. JFP, would you have any info on the operational logics of the fuel pumps for the Cayenne that you can share, such as which pump runs when etc ? Thanks in advance.
  22. There is an updated nav cd available which was dated 2008. Part number is 99664203602. Cost is about $1000 in Oz. You can get it for $466 USD from www.porscheoemparts.com Could be worthwhile in purchasing a Tom Tom nav unit instead.
