  1. RG, Congrats on your recent purchase. Regarding this site, use it like you would a manual or an encyclopedia. If you have questions of a technical nature, this is the place. If you want chat go to 6speed or Rennlist.
  2. There is no problem replacing the stock seats with another OEM or aftermarket seat. Remember to disconnect the battery when making the switch. You will need to plug-in the seatbelt wires, but the rest just sit under the race seat (e.g., GT3). I have modified the padding on my GT3 seats to add lumbar support....very easy to do as the cushions use velcro.
  3. Got the part from sunset...do you happen to know the bulb designation...I believe it is a 12V W5W...so is that 5 watts?
  4. Dynos really should not be used to compare different cars, but to compare changes made to a car. None of them are truly accurate as there is no NIST (gov't recognized) standard for hp (accuracy is the average deviation from a true value...standard). The more important characteristic is precision. The problem you have is the dyno gives wheel numbers which are then converted to crank hp numbers...so you have to start there. So you need to multiply the wheel numbers by some figure...might as well just use what you want as 1999 says
  5. Looking for part number for the connector (Attached pic has arrow pointing to it) for side markers. The wires pulled out of the connector. TIA.
  6. The seat belt & tensioner needs to be installed to work. There is a connector that is plugged into it.
  7. My guess is Oil temperature sensor (first pic) or 2nd guess is pressure sensor (second pic #4)
  8. good advice from above...I have a charger that will automatically charges/stops charging when a certain voltage level is reached. If I leave it for more than 3 days...on the charger.
  9. This is the spanner wrench you need. And you can get it here: Spanner wrench
  10. Nice Chuck..glad things worked out...enjoy the much faster ride.
  11. uh...I'm driving a turbo.....recommended octane is 96 FYI.
  12. My car specifically calls out 96 (R+M)/2...in any case I have heard the argument that higher octanes may hurt performance, but never seen any data to support it. The car usually states the minimum Octane not the maximum. The ECU will adjust for pre-mature detonation to some extent if you use lower octanes...I wonder if higher octanes don't allow the ECU to allow for better detonantion? In any case I run VP100 in my car (granted it is modified). It does not have a high octane ECU map. It runs great...do not think performance is hurt at all.
  13. This is where I got mine several years back: Park Place
  14. I have replied to these sort of posts for several years now...I have heard many suggest cleaning the MAF...with CRC or Circuit board cleaner or whatever. I have yet to hear someone clean one after throwing codes as you describe (ABS/PSM & CEL) and bring it back to life (I have 3 sitting in a box from my V-flow experiment). That doesn't mean you can't try, unfortunately I think is has already fried. Cleaning as a PM I understand, but after the fact...too late.
  15. Link please to the product and DIY for this.
  16. I know of no one with a turbo timer in a 996TT...it does not work with the alarm system...that is you can't lock the car and walk away with the engine running and let the timer shut it off. If you know of something that does this...post the link here.
  17. Yes, the ECU Go to the Durametric site, it gives some good info. Although it IS possible to do this, typically the dealer will NOT erase any of this information as it is used for warranty issues. Erasure costs some $$$$.
  18. oh you mean this: Methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl (MMT) It is sold under the tradenames HiTec 3000 and AK-33X. here are the VP spec sheets: VP spec sheets VP PDF I see no mention of MMT.
  19. Once again it depends on the type. The 100 octane VP has no lead. See here: VP
  20. I meant no harm in my comment and it is quite good to get to know your new car...I would really suggest always closing the top and locking. It is much safer (from weather, birds and passerbys) and it prevents the top from getting permanent wrinkles (which would not go well with hairy legs). Get the SmartTop and you can close it with one touch while you are parking...that is the beauty of automatic tops!
  21. I'll just reply about the oil: 0W40, 5W40 and 5W50 Mobil are all approved. You can see the TSB on oil if you join up....well worth it!
