  1. I wonder if it’s possible it’s the oil itself. Sat for a long time and became thinner and that prevented priming. Once engine started and running, whatever contaminants were burned off. Just a thought. Hard to imagine it’s the pressure relief valve that looks fine.
  2. Then I think it's a good idea to load test the battery just to eliminate it. Next is clutch switch and the ignition switch itself.
  3. Welcome to Renntech Sounds like your clutch switch to me. If key is left in ignition without starting car for some time, it will not start the car and that's a feature. Not sure why your key got "stuck" in the ignition though. That can only be a mechanical problem. When it happens again, try jumper the clutch switch wires with a metal paper clip and see if that changes anything.
  4. What is the resistance of the solenoid? Should be around ~13.5 ohm
  5. Congrats! So was it the oil pump prrssure relief valve all along? It's a little disturbing to think that all it needed was some grease.
  6. My understanding is it provides the tach signal. In any case, I think all of the useful diagnostic info you want are available from the OBDII port (i.e., generic OBDII and Durametric).
  7. Check out this great article about how our door lock works. It sounds like your issues are not mechanical.
  8. There should be a holder cloae to the right engine mount that it plugs onto.
  9. It's for diagnostic and it's not connected to anything.
  10. Sounds like it's banged up pretty badly inside. If it is, I wonder if you have to remove the transmission to address the issues inside anyway.
  11. I remember your case. it was a long winding tough one to crack. It's hard to see corrosion on your photos. Could the green gooey stuff the Deoxit discoloring over time? The gooey stuff also looks like silicon grease? BTW, why it can't be a simple sensor failure? Just curious...

  13. You may want to try ebay for a used one. It's rolling the dice without an easy way to verify if it works before you put it on your car. I usually look for ones that were taken off lower mileage wrecked cars. You can search for "2004 boxster downpipe" on ebay.
  14. P0420 is the bank1 catalytic converter efficiency too low and has nothing to do with the O2 sensors, which have their own codes. You can use an OBDII scanner to monitor the signals of the O2 sensors on bank 1 to confirm the cat is indeed bad (when the post cat signal follows the swinging precat signal, the cat is bad). The only fix is to replace the cat.
  15. With the hold down bolt removed, can you rotate the sensor a bit? The sensor has a striaght shank so it should pull striaght out.
  16. Actually it should apply to you because the problem is on the crank side, which has only one style of gear.

  18. I see. I think I know what you're talking about. I have seen a post or two about the same problem and I'm trying to find those posts. If my memory serves, it's something to do with how the chain was installed on the crank and chain guide although it's difficult to imagine how because there are not many ways the chain could fit. I think the solution was to refit the chain and chain guide. I'll post again if I find those posts.
  19. I assume the tensioner of the chain has not been installed yet? Any free play if you push on the IMS chain paddle (via the tensioner hole)? Are you sure the chain matches the gears on the crank?
  20. Yeah, pin 66 of the DME. Should supply ground if it's happy.
  21. Yes, even running for one second it would produce fuel pressure. Can you tell if the DME activates the start lock relay while cranking? If so, the DME and immo are happy. Of course it still needs the on-going CPS signal to activate the coils/injectors/fuel pump.
