  1. No direct experience but I wonder if it has anything to do with the knock sensors.
  2. Sounds like your compressor is not pumping at all then. The compressor is of variable type and it's controlled by the computer based on multiple inputs. I think it will be wise to scan the a/c system with a Durametric to check for any error codes before you starting ripping out anything.
  3. Got you. "J" is the jump start terminal in the engine bay right above the a/c compressor. There's a black box cover with a "+" sign.
  4. Was it measured while the compressor was running? 90PSI sounds like static pressure (when compressor is not running).
  5. Perhaps if and when you redo it, you can examine all the mating surfaces and make sure they are smooth and flat. Also make sure there are no nicks on the gasket itself. if everything checks out, it is indeed very odd because the gasket is compressible and when compressed it should seal perfectly. Another thing you may want to try is to clean the threads of the water pump bolt holes very carefully (by a chaser).
  6. You can just unplug the solenoid and connect a 9v battery to it to activate it. The polarity does not matter.
  7. How does the shifter feel? i.e., can you feel all the gears like normal? If not, your shifter cable might be knocked off their brackets. If the shifter feels normal, it could be the slave/master clutch cylinder.
  8. Try to press at this point (in the direction of the arrow) and see if that releases the clip.

  10. Oh, if you remove it, most coolant will come out. Similar to opening the coolant drain plug at the bottom of the engine.
  11. It's just a lid covering a coolant opening. On a MkII, the lid includes a built-in gasket. I think it has a separate gasket on a MkI.

  13. Very nice with an upgraded engine. Just wondering how many miles on the engine and any mods on the IMSB? For the pics, looks like it's been taken care of very well.
  14. Yikes!! So the larger stock bearings do fail too although not nearly as common as the smaller bearimgs. Hope most parts are salvageable.
  15. I agree also. Somehow I missed that photo before. Definitely probe that area for the noise.
  16. Does your stethoscope have a long metal rod? If it's one of the cats, it should be very obvious when you touch the cat with the rod. The cat will need to be replaced or repaired (if a shop can cut it open). You have quite a bit of oil leak on the cover. It could be from spark plug tubes or AOS, etc. Yes, the noise cannot be from the pulleys/rollers with the belt off but your last video had the belt on.

I hear some pingimg sound in the first video that sounds like a loose element inside a catalytic converter so you may want to use your stethoscope to check out both cats, the area where the engine and the transmission mate (IMS), on engine heads and then move toward the crank. Just probe anywhere (safely). Also check if all spark plugs are tight. The same sound is also hidden in the second video. The last video has two different sound. One very rapid ticking, which is likely from the evap regeneration valve (normal). The other rattle sound is less regular, sounds like something loose and rattling. Probe the idle pulleys, the alternator case carefully with the stethoscope. You may also want to try depressing the clutch and see if the noise changes.
  18. What Wizard said above. Perhaps you can call the dealer and ask if they can get part number 000-043-305-75, which is the 1gal coolant. I don't see why they can't order it from Porsche.

Porsche coolant is available in 1gal container https://www.sunsetporscheparts.com/oem-parts/porsche-antifreeze-3785-l-00004330575 You will need ~3gals if you flush out all the old coolant (~6gals). I think it's best to go with Porsche and not to mix with other coolant. If you want to flush out all the old coolant without removing too many hoses, I've developed a method for 996 that many have used and got great results. Perhaps you could adapt it to your Boxster.
  20. BTW, check out these excellent videos that show you the offending microswitch on the door lock mechanism.
  21. Btw, the lock will still work even if that microswitch is bad. That microswitch only detects if the door is closed.
  22. Once you removed the lock, you can check the cam that activates the microswitch on the lock. It should be obvious if the cam is worn. Your symptoms do point to the lock. From the owner's manual, double beep means some fault(s) in the alarm system. You would need a Porsche scanner to read the error code(s).
