  1. Test the range selector switch located on the side of the gearbox, moisture can migrate into the connector/switch and cause issues. It can be easily tested with a DVOM.
  2. Fault brake light switch... are the brake lights coming on each time you step on the brake?
  3. This might sound odd but you aren't accidentally touching the brake pedal when this occurs?
  4. Are there any fault codes in the system? I have never heard of any problems ( not that there couldn't be ) with the signal switches- they have held up very well over the years.
  5. There are several connections to check starting with the leads at the rear of the unit then I think there is a booster located in the A pillars is memory serves. I had a customer complaint of the issue once and it turned out they installed the wrong windscreen in the vehicle so check that you can see the antenna wire in the glass.
  6. I use a product called Rubber Grease to assembly o-rings, it's even safe for brake components such as calliper pistons seals. I think the company name is APR.
  7. Possible bent valve due to over rev. I would first do a cylinder leak down test to confirm it is an intake at fault. Sorry I don't know if you can remove the heads with the engine in situ.
  8. If you have a proper scan tool you can read the rpm of the transmission speed sensors but low fluid levels will give bogus readings so that has to be addressed first. You also need to verify the multi function switch is indicating the gear box is in the correct gear. These are fairly reliable gearboxes with two main points of failure is the torque convertor bushing failing causing a oil leak and the coolant control system for the cooler as another.
  9. I replaced it with a brass piece I had in the junk bin, should be able to find something at your locale hardware shop.
  10. Sounds like a lean condition and If you have fuel coming from one cylinder then the injector might have a problem. The CIS injectors should open at approx 42-48 psi but they can leak, open under lower pressure and have very poor spray patterns which will affect the volume of fuel to the remaining injectors. You need to put a pressure gauge on it and see whats going on.
  11. There is also a plastic pipe that runs from the front of the intake to rear and joins in a "T" fitting which then runs to each cylinder head, that "T" fitting fails often.
  12. I know my PCM 2.1 has an internal cooling fan as I've had it out for cleaning ages ago.
  13. I'm not sure why they are listing the 7L5 numbers, I know when I give those numbers to my OPC they can't come up with anything.
  14. The magnet is more for the tiptronic function, there is a multi function switch located on the gear box which is used for P,R,N,D. Are there any other odd electrical things happening such as radio or heater not coming on? Maybe an ignition switch on it's way out.
  15. 7L5 numbers are VW numbers for the Touareg series, they are not Cayenne numbers. It is true that the vehicles share some parts but headlight assemblies are not one of them.
  16. I've seen this many times before on the Cayenne/Touareg filters, I believe it's caused from the carbon/graphite materials that make up the brushes in the fuel pumps.
  17. Also be sure the O2 option you selected on Durametric is functioning for you vehicle, there are many displayed options on Durametric that only apply to some models.
  18. I would suspect the thermostat, it could be bypassing coolant and the water pump is a positive displacement type so the increased volume at rpm might explain what's going on plus the high speed run isn't sustained for very long.
  19. It shouldn't have gone into protect mode just from removing the radio, are you sure everything is connected correctly on the unit and no fuses failed? Coding and protection warning are two different items.
  20. You'll need the correct scan tool to access codes for this transmission. If the dear selector is in park and the "D" is highlighted then there is an electrical fault and a code should be stored.
  21. Not uncommon for some usage but you'll have to start monitoring the consumption and the amount of smoke. Is there any soot at the tail pipe or on the rear of the vehicle?
