Anyone got a pic of a preface lift 996 with 996tt Wheels?

Hi all, I am considering buying a set of 996TT wheels (ones on a 996 C4S) 8Jx18ET50 & 11Jx18ET45 for my 2000 C4 Cab.

Would anyone have a pic of a prefacelift 996 with these wheels on, and will this size and offset work?

I think the difference in outer rim position will be something like (exisiting offset - new offset ) + (0.5 (new rim width - old rim width )).

I would guess it would add up to about an inch per side.

You likely wouldn't be able to lower the car without possible contact. The fronts would likely be OK.

My gut feeling was that they wouldn't, but rather than just post an opinion I thought the link would be more use. 33mm is quite a lot isn't it? I'm going down to measure up something else on my car later on, so I think I'll see what that looks like.

Yes Paul, I think it would be like a dune buggy, there are 2 sets of C4S wheels in mint condition on PCGB's forum at the moment, one is in Scotland by the way Paul. I am thinking these wheels will only work on wide bodies.

I'd like to see a pic of them on one too , they look very meaty.

Hi, this is my first post on RennTech.org. My father's ride is a 99 C2 Cab with the turbo wheels. I don't know about the differences in the C4 vs C2 offsets but they're the turbo wheels on a pre-facelift, and in a dark color too.

I hope this helps and if you want I'll get some more pictures of it tomorrow since I'll be home, that picture is from the fall and is a pretty bad angle.

Sam & Mike, Those Turbo 3 wheels are very similar to the wheels I mentioned, but the C4S or 996 Twin Turbo wheels are slightly different, I had seen some of the C4S (TT) advertised and thought about buying them. Have a look at the C4S in some pics and the 996TT and you will see the rim of the wheel is different even though the spoke is the same, albeit when the spoke meets the rim its different too, much more chunky and deep.

However after seeing your pics, especially yours Mick, I'm sold, I started out looking for your very wheels but saw the others advertised, now I am back where I started they look fantastic Mick, are they new? refurbed? mind me asking are they the originals, what they cost, from who etc etc....

Your car looks stunning! Thats it its those wheels for me! did you have the park assist retro fitted?

The wheels are the originals as far as I know - only had the car 16 months (pics taken just after I got it). They have one or two scratches round the edges that's all - amazing after nearly 6 years! Have a trawl through eBay - there's usually something similar on there. Alternatively check out www.porscheshop.co.uk they have a decent looking selection.

I think the Park assist came fitted from new. Not exactly pretty is it? Poor for such a high cost car really.

Cracking condition Mike, The sensors are not so bad! the eyesockets they are in are a tad large but I know back then it was the only way to get them sealed in the curve of the bumper. You could have a call out dent repair shop colour in the insert to black too.

I read from Richard Hamilton that the kit is by Bosch, do a search online for Bosch Park Pilot,


you can buy it in Germany and Austrailia, its cheap, and the new sensors are flush mounted, you could always look into upgrading to new sensors only....


I'm looking at this kit from Austraila here is the brochure


I am sure Loren might want to put this in the FAQ section but as it is now I cannot 100% say it is the original kit.

Mine are genuine, I've got the part numbers somewhere, 993.xxx.xxx.xx etc. The set on the car above are 8J/10J but need refurbed. The current set on the car the moment are 7.5J/10J and also genuine Porsche. Alas they also need a refurb.

The replicas listed on Ebay are a relatively current arrival there but I think the specialist dealers have been offering these for a while now. The only issues I've read about relates to:

(1) insurance issues as they are not recommended wheels (think this is bogus scaremongering myself).

(2) the increased weight of the wheels giving rise to an increase in unsprung mass or something like that (probably of interest only to racers but I'm sure someone will jump in to correct me!)

Not sure if this is the lot I was talking about above but it will give you an idea:
