MAF replaced idles rough on start

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Repalced the MAF and it got rid of numerous problems as per previous posts, now the only issue is it needs some throttle to start and idle.

It takes about a minute to idle ok and drives great, although I would say the idle is a little rough but OK

Any ideas

Bruce

have you reset the DME/ECU by disconnecting the negative battery cable for a minute, then reconnecting it?

(have radio code handy if your radio needs one.)

Do a search, there is info on the board here that I used when I did mine. Relatively easy to access but watch the gasket between the ICV and the facing -- I managed to break mine. Suggest you order another before you do the jb.

Inside the idle speed control valve there is a curved flap that opens and closes like a door, this gets gummed up.

It should move easily, clean it all out with carb cleaner, electrical cleaner and WD40 (yes i use all three)

get a tiny bit of grease and put it on the gasket (this will prevent air leaks)

Great improvement although it was 100f here today and although the car had sat for 24 hours and was technically cold the air was not but it started and run very nice and has run all day at lights etc beautifully. It will be ineteresting tommorow morning when hopefully its colder again.

Have documented in PDF with photos any suggestions where I can upload (file is a few meg)

Once again

Bruce

So I take it that cleaning the ICV cured the problem?
