Cayenne Key Fob Info and questions

Recommended Posts

Hello all. The key fob that came with my new to me 2004 Cayenne S will not unlock the doors, but will pop the rear glass (Switchblade style key). So I called the dealers for the prices on the key/fobs.... Man- some dealers are clueless. Some quoted me $240+ Programing...... for a single key. Then told me I could not order "just" the remote.

So with some help of my friend, we found what the dealer could not find.

I like proving people wrong so here is the info:

Remote only p/n 000-043-207-19 (I paid right around $47.00)

Complete Key (blank that needs to be cut-Dealer can do it) and remote p/n 955-637-244-04-01C ($91.00 Sunset Porsche)

So tomorrow I am going to the dealer to have them all programed to my car with their computer.... They wanted me to spend $480 + Programing... LOL

Now the question on the Immobilizer. If I remove the key blade from my old key and attach it to the new remote only:

Can I started the car if I hold the original worn out fob (with correct "Pill") as I turn the new remote/key in the ignition?

Or does the immobilizer need to contact the metal of the key blade to activate the correct programed "pill"?

I hope that makes sense.

If you don't want to go to the dealer, any good locksmith can "cut" the blade.

Some locksmiths can also "clone" a new key fob that will start the car, so long as you have one working key for them to clone. Not sure about whether they can also get the other functions to work.

The cost for cutting the blade and cloning so that you can start the car is less than $50. All you have to bring is your one good key, they supply the rest (Price on Long Island, New York).

Regards, Maurice.

It willl not start without the immobilizer. The locksmith has a cloning device that allows him to insert your good key into it and copy whatever information is contained in it, including the transponder info. He then inserts his new blank key and copies the codes onto the new transponder that is contained inside the blank. He also cuts your new blank blade according to the pattern that is on your existing key blade. My locksmith did both of those in front of me in about 4 minutes. The only thing he could not get to work were the remote functions and he was not sure why that would not work.

I was happy to have a spare key that could unlock the car manually and that could start the car. My dealer had asked me for $498 for a new key with working remotes. The remote functions were not worth $450 to me for a spare.

Regards, Maurice.

I just got back from the dealer and now have two fully functioning, brand new keys/remotes.

Total cost:

$125 to program both keys (and cut one key blade)

$47 for new remote only

$91 For compete key/remote

Total $263 for two new keys/remotes programmed.

I'm cool with that. They waived the $45.00 charge to cut the new key blade for the complete key/remote

They get you for the $125 if it is programing 1 key or 2. So figure around $47.00 for the remote and $125 for programing. Just call and ask them. Maybe they will charge you 1/2 hour labor.

One of my remotes doesn't work and won't start the car although the key is cut correctly. Dealer said they can only supply a new key at 400 USD approx.

Can I just order this remote part and move the blade over and get them to code it?

Also how do I disassemble the key without breaking it?

Thanks for any advice, would be very pleased not to spend 400 on it!

The remote is available: 1/ blade cut (VIN related) 2/ blank blade (universal - no VIN needed) in 2 button and 3 button remote version as well. You can remove (and change) the blades by ticking out the small locking pin, located in the rotating part of the key. In both cases is a reprogram of ALL the car remotes necessary. US cars needs US remotes towards specific radio frequencies.

Blank remote only please as I can transfer the blade from my broken unit. Have been given a price of 200 GBP approx for full key by VIN. Thanks for any assistance.

Thanks Loren. How do I verify that is the correct frequency? Also do they all support entry+drive as I don't have that option so don't need a key supporting it?

Check your cars options list.

I5D1 = Carrier frequency 433.92 MHz

I5D2 = Carrier frequency 315 MHz

I5D3 = Carrier frequency 315 MHz with reduced transmission power for Japan

Thanks - option list has 5D1 on it so I think that must be the right part you listed. Sure beats paying 350USD for a key to vin!

Just had a thought - my car doesn't have 4F2 option. If I order this key, is it wrong? I have the other 2 options.

Assuming that you have 2 keys (remote capable or not)

I am an auto electrician in the UK. As the Cayenne is essentially Non Can-Bus Toureg based. If you get a new / replacement remote fob, use the original blade portion of your inopperable key (the case is in 2 parts, the blade end has the transponder for the immo) and use this procedure.

Unlock car

Insert key into ign and switch to acc (has to be related to the car immo)

Close driver door and insert 2nd key with replacement remote into driver door lock and turn to lock the door manually - hold that rotation whilst pressing the lock/unlock button on the remote and keep pressed for 5-10 seconds.

Then remove the key from door lock and test....

There are slight variations in the VW/Audi range, involving holding down two remote buttons at once or one then the other depending on model/age.

Works 100% with UK vehicles as my second remote didnt remote operate the locking or boot, and now does both - Happy Days..
