How to break-in a Boxster

Recommended Posts

Anyone ever successfully break in their Boxster? Why you ask? My remote's not working (hasn't for over a year) and the door lock finally quit working. Key turns freely but no resistance. I guess the cable's broken. Naturally it quit working with the doors in the lock position.

Really hate to bust the passenger side window but it saves a tow job to the dealership where they'll (I assume) have to do the same thing to get in the car to synch a new remote with the car.

Unless anyone has any other ideas???

It is possible to insert a rubber wedge in between the back vertical edge of the passenger (or driver) side window and then use a wire hanger to pull on the inner door handle to unlock the doors.

Not easy, but possible. You will think that the window is going to break when you force the wedge in, but it won't, it can take a lot of force before it shatters. Worse that can hapen is that the window would shatter anyway.

Regards, Maurice.

Did you try the passenger door with your key?

Paul

AFAIK, unless you have an optionless boxster the passenger door does not have a keyhole.

You are going to need to get a slim jim or a tow company to open it with a slim jim. Properly used, a slim jim will not hurt your car.

i've used gun cleaning rods, the thin stiff alluminum type, screwed together. a plastic putty knife to ease the rubber back, a wedge as mentioned to give space, then just reach in unlock it. I needed two sets of rods for my corvette. Like mentioned above, go slow but you can put alot of stress on the glass and it won't shatter. You really don't have to pry it out very far, just take it easy.
