Only dealers can research service records and then only if the service was documented by the previous dealer.

For security (of the previous owners) they will not likely give you any copies of work done - but you might get them to confirm a date and whether it was done under warranty or not.

I would also seriously doubt this was a dealer installed engine, as they are usually reman's and bear the letters "AT" in the engine code sequence.

This is what I was hoping they would do at least but if not installed by a dealer I may never know :-(  I just want to head off an IMS/RMS issue before it develops.  This should be the last Major thing my baby needs.

Do you know what the original engine number for your car was?  The one in your car now was manufactured for MY03 & 04, so I am assuming that your car is MY03 or 04.  If it is the correct engine type for the car, but not the original engine, then the only thing you don't know is the mileage it has covered.  That could be the deciding factor in whether you go for a new IMS bearing or not.
