Guys.

can anyone help me with these 2 questions?

I was going to fit some litronics into my C2 1998 996. However can these just fit in and work after I take out my original lights or do I need to wire them in as well?

I have a feeling that they will probably work OK if I just replace them for the originals as I want to try and avoid all the wiring stuff if posiible.

Also does it matter if they are LHD or RHD. Is there a lever or swith on the headlamps that can change them from LHD to RHD?

Thanks for all your help

They will fit and work without the wiring. How do I know? I did this very thing with my wife's boxster. I removed them and the wiring before I traded my boxster (I installed them originally) and then installed them in my wifes car without the wiring. I will do the wiring later.

The litronics will work, but you will not get the benefit of the highbeams lifting to fill. The high beams work they just don't rotate up; a main feature. Just be careful to pay attention to the direction of removal using the supplied allen wrench. Too many twists and you can damage the mounting plate like me :-) Follow the manual

Yes, I believe it matters if they are LHD or RHD because of the bulb aiming. You'll be blinding drivers if you use the LHD vs. RHD No switch that I know of.

You must be from the UK. Check this out on the UK Boxster board. http://forum.boxa.net/index.php?showtopic=2286&hl=

There are LHD and RHD litronics. And there is a lever inside the headlight to switch over.

The issue in the UK is MOT since the retrofit will not have the suspension sensors. It will not have the washers, however there is a retrofit kit for the washers.

You can just put litronics in without hooking up the control unit. The control unit is only 3 wires. Ground, power, and high beam. Since it is so easy to hook up the control unit we always hook it up.

We filmed the install. Jeff

Jeff, just to clear things up in my mind, is it possible to retrofit *and* get the high-beam rotate feature working? My understanding is that you need to order two small wiring looms (one for each side) to get this to work?

I've got a question related to this topic: I have a '99 C2, and the lights on the interior section of the front headlight assembly right above the turn signal (smallish square lights) don't appear to work. The headlights and highbeams otherwise work fine, but I was wondering what the function of these lights was, as there is a bulb in there. Are these the litronics...?

Thanks

David

Thanks Jeff. So I guess you can get them to work fully. I thought I read elasewhere that you can *never* get the rotate featuer to work witha retrofit.

next question: in the ROW cars we have a little headlight adjustment thumbwheel. Do you know if this will still work if using retrofited litronics?

Gotta get them there CDs of ya when I come over again next month ;-)
