Recommended Posts

I have a '00 2.7L with 50k miles. She has been working great....but..

I noticed my car never honk/beeps when I lock the door via the key fob. Anybody have any idea where to start looking or what the issuse is?

Thank for all your help guys!

Well I can never tell that my door locks, because it dos not confirm my "locking" with a audio anything...

that might be a good future hack????

No beeps is normal.

If your car beeps then that means you have a zone "open".

Not really (IMHO)... because if you get a beep then something is open - that is the way the system is designed.

I did the side marker/turn signal hack that flashes the turn signals and sidemarks when you set the alarm. As well if flashes the side markers when the turn signals flash (while driving).

Agggh. Mine does beep on locking. Have changed the stereo and fitted a GPS aerial under the front cover by the sensor on the centre of the dash - What troubleshooting route should I follow

S

Changing the stereo will do it. There is a connection between the alarm system control module and the mounting frame of the original stereo, so that if the stereo is removed (stolen) it sets off the alarm. If you haven't re-made this connection (to ground, I believe) then you will get a single-beep when locking.

Tape up the wire that connects to the original radio mounting cage. If a connection is made to ground the alarm will sound (beep when locking).

OK,

I just had this problem happen yesterday. My car started to beep when locking. I double checked both trunks, doors, and top, and I have a stock stereo.

Uhh? hmmmm????

What else could it be?

The glove box or cubby between the seats, probably the latter, make sure it is fastened securely.

Single or double beep?

Also make sure the lid for the storage box is latched.

If you rule out all the above then it could be the microswitch for the front trunk latch or the switch for the lid. If these switches go bad the car thinks something is open, when it is really closed.

You guys where right it was my center "glovebox". I had no idea that was also included in the alarm route.

Thanks, I went back to my car and that solved it. You guys rock

Weird, I moved my head unit down to the bottom console, but left the wire that was randomly attached to the cage up above (so it doesn't touch the head unit any more) - but I don't get an alarm beep telling me there's a fault... I know the alarm works cuz if I leave my center console compartment open, the alarm does alert me that a zone is open...

Weird.

Thanks!

S.
