  1. Depending on the manufacture date of your car you may not need the triple square. It's best to crawl under and have a look before you buy it. Try Sears first for the 17 mm allen wrench if not there try Wiha Professional Hand Tools. MAF removal
  2. Hmm... was $65 a year and half ago. When I looked it up just now in the December 2004 price list (current) it shows retail $124.09. Still high but not what you were quoted. Why don't you try Sunset Imports? They are the link at the top of the page "Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost".
  3. And the A9 and A10 fuses are 15A not 7.5A? Right? and the ground wire on the passenger side (in front trunk) has a clean good connection?
  4. Only Contributing Members can view the TSB content. If you would like to become one then just click on the Donate to RennTech.org link at the top of any page.
  5. They shouldn't be related - the backup lights are on a different circuit. For the backup lights it's pretty much the fuse and the backup switch on the transmission. Have they had the engine or transmission out recently? If so, it could be they forgot to hook the backup switch wires - it's happened to a couple folks. For the headlight issue - get your headlight removal tool from the car's tool kit and remove that headlight. Look at both the pins on the headlight for bent pins and/or corrosion. In the socket inside the car look for corrosion again and/or for a pin that has pushed back out of the socket. These are the most obvious things we've seen before - good luck!
  6. Chances ae they are held on the same way the 996 are - double stick tape. First mark on the door seal (the rubber part) with tape so you know where to locate the new ones. Most folks find a combination of hair dryer (to warm the surface up) and dental floss to break the seal of the tape work well. Be careful that you don't get the dryer too hot and melt something. Once they are off clean the surface with some 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner and then once dry apply the new one to your marks.
  7. 1. Have a look here 2. 96 ft lb. 3. All the bulbs are listed in your Owners Manual. 4. There is a kit that has everything you need. Have a look here
  8. XMP=Leather Visors with lights and Vanity Mirror? Correct! As stated in PET: "Sun visor in leather, 2 illuminated vanity mirrors"
  9. Front parking light (up to MY '01): Shape W, Output 5 W Front parking light (Litronic, Bi-Xenon headlight as from MY '02): Shape H, Output 6 W
  10. An RMS change takes: 4 hours - if they have the parts in stock and the technican is trained. 1-2 days - if they have to order the parts. (why not wait until the parts arrive?). 2 days - 2 months - if they have to (order and) replace the engine.
  11. My first thoughts are: Bad gas (octane too low - knocking?) or a bad ignition switch...
  12. Yes, I'll send you a PM with some troublshooting...
  13. Most common cause I've heard about is corrosion or loose antenna connections. If it's AM reception, then there is a TSB that details a Suppression Kit that needs to be installed on pre Oct 1998 build cars.
  14. 996 652 101 00 Cigarette Lighter (to MY01) ($9.83 Retail as of Dec 2004) 999 650 284 40 Plug Socket ($0.40 Retail as of Dec 2004) 999 652 735 12 Connector($0.29 Retail as of Dec 2004)
  15. It is a Torx E12 socket. "E" is for External.
  16. 996 424 075 01 EKS Gear Shift Knob (original) available stock only 996 424 075 02 ENK Gear Shift Knob Savanna and Silver 996 424 075 05 ENK Gear Shift Knob (MY00-02) Good Luck!
  17. The original ones are only available as "use" stock - that is, only what dealers may have. The silver/leather (not aluminum look) are available as is the version that was used from MY00 to MY02. I will need the color you want to get you the right part number.
  18. Telephone prep connector. On it you will find: +12 volts unswitched (red/green) +12 volts switched (green/black) Ground (brown wire) Telephone Mute Signal (yellow/black wire)
  19. I've added a new section to the OBD II section that gives a table of Porsche System Tester(s) codes and their cross-reference to P-Codes. Useful when the service technican gives use a two or three digit code that is not a (Standardized DTC SAE J 2012) P-Code. This listing is also useful to related P-Codes, to determine fault types and whether the MIL (CEL) light on, off or flashing with a specific code.I think I transferred everything ok but let me know if you see typos or other mistakes.Porsche OBD II P-Codes Section
  20. According to the manual: 27 Oxygen sensing, area 1 Cylinders (1 - 3), P1123 (Short to ground below lower limit/lean mixture threshold) - MIL is on, emission relevant fault 35 Oxygen sensing, area 1 Cylinders (4 - 6), P1125 (Short to ground below lower limit/lean mixture threshold) - MIL is on, emission relevant fault Possible trouble areas: - Fuel pressure too high. - Fuel injector leaking. - EVAP canister purge valve open. I'll try to get the Fault Text table online in the Pcode area in the next few days. It doesn't have solutions but it does show how the codes relate to each other.
  21. If you are looking for factory manuals and they are not supplied by Porsche -- then they are bootleg. There are some third party manuals out there but they are not very good (IMHO).
  22. I think that was on the GT3 ClubSport (M003) only. The same feature is available on the GT3 RS (RoW only). Unfortunately, it is factory installed so no instructions.
