  1. Your car likely has 996 coil packs because most the engine (and production) in 2005 was the 996. The 997.1 and 996 share many more parts than Porsche would like you to think. The latest part for coil packs for your car is: 997 602 104 02. You will also need the shorter bolts 900 385 025 01 - two per coil pack. I do not know why you can mix them - they should read the same resistance. But then if 3 are cracked how long before the other three crack? The car is 11 years old and if it were my car I would replace them all.

  3. Did you check the bulb socket for corrosion and dirt? You get that message when the circuit resistance is too high -- it goes away when the problem is corrected.
  4. You may well need to change the brake/clutch fluid. If you do be sure to bleed both the brakes and the clutch as they share the same brake fluid circuit. See the DIY in the DIY Tutorials section. It is also possible that your clutch return spring has gone bad. Item 9 below. There should be no grease or oil on the pedal mechanism other than a small amount of white grease on the pivot shaft..

  18. Yes, I took that from my Porsche 7.2 OBD II manual. Fuel trims should looked at. Since this is a bank 1 issue compare the readings to bank 2.
  19. P1126 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation, Lower Load Range, Bank 1 – Above Limit, or Below Limit This means that the fuel mixture is too rich and the DME software can not correct for it. This is not an O2 sensor problem. Possible causes are: – Incorrect signal from MAF sensor – Fuel pressure too high – Fuel injector fouled
  20. Yes, the correct part number. You might want to check with your local dealer also as I see an MSRP of $21.56.
  21. Well, if you can still find the switch that will likely fix it - but that switch will wear out again. If you replace the whole lock/switch assembly with the 2004 (and newer version) you won't likely ever need worry about it again. There are DIY instruction for both types in the 996 and 986 DIY Tutorials.
