  1. Maybe a aftermarket indiglo gauge light adjuster, any pictures of this control?
  2. Not sure you should worry, i disconnected mine once to remove the gauges for painting the rings and when i reinstalled the lights didnt light until 5 minutes down the road.... all seems fine 7 months later.
  3. Also, if the u bolt went deep enough it could have punctured the radiator behind the condenser
  4. Mine comes close too, i would assume thats by design, if yours hits, then its likely you have a bent convertible top frame... You can always unlatch the top from the front of the car, then open it 1/4 of the way and then put the latch in the closed position which will lift the hook outta the way by about 1 inch i believe. BTW, Abe986... very interesting point!.... ;)
  5. The nut more than likely goes to the ball-pin that the push rod attachs to. Mine loosened up and fell into the drain and rested inside the mudflap near the tire until i removed it one day, thats likely the answer to your uneven top closing. Open the top only 1/4 of the way and look at the push rod on the side thats lagging, your going to see that it's not pulling the top back anymore, you'll have to get the screw threaded part of the ball-pin back into the hole and from the inside of the passenger compartment you'll have to screw that nut back on the ball-pin.... If you look at the nut, is it sorta flat slightly wide? if so, thats the ball pin nut.
  6. Or you can buy a passenger side recepticle like me cause my drivers side recepticle was making my airbag light turn on, killed 2 birds with 1 stone.
  7. Yeah, its a hack i discovered by accident when the parts guy at Porsche gave me the wrong part. :-)
  8. Well if the you can get a rubber malet and bang on the arm and listen for metal tapping noises, the noise it emits while driving is much more audiable than hitting with a hammer but try to hit it in such a way that it moves forward and backwards because that is the movement that wore it out. If no rubber malet on hand, jack up the car, remove the wheel and wiggle and jiggle the arm with your hands, if you feel the EVER SO SLIGHTEST movement, then its worn. It should feel extra solid when you move it with your hands but if not, then its worn.
  9. The Passenger side had 2 pin and driver side is 4 pin. Did you notice that your dash doesnt chime anymore even if your belt isnt buckled??? I accidentally replaced my driverside belt also with a passenger side and the 2 missing pins are for the reminder chime when your belt isnt buckled. I think its a nice hack for people that get annoyed by the chime. The airbag light would turn on because you had to disconnect the wires to do the change, you have to locate a shop with a PST2 or DuraMetric software to turn the light off for you. Disconnecting the battery DOESNT clear airbag lights. Where are you located? if in So, Cal, you can goto Bisimoto Engineering in Chino Hills, they are very responible with there pricing unlike everywhere else.
  10. pretty sure the caster on the wheels are within spec according to the alignment shop print out... but the fact that the person going the alignment looked younger than me (im 24) WORRIES ME! I called my father, turns out they have a 4 wheel alignment machine, Pops is going to have his men look at it for me saturday. Ill post the results/update that nite.
  11. Well they did and I did before returning it the first time... they are starting to blame my suspension, they are on the vurge of saying my suspensionis either worn or my car was in a accident...... but seen to forget the fact that it tracked straight before i took it to them,... they also said it could be my new tires quality.... They are Nexen N3000 Z rated tires.
  12. Well i can feel the steering wheel pull to the right. If i let it go, the wheel will probably turn about 5 centimeters to the right and the car will steer to the right. It occurs 24/7, never goes away ever since the first alignment they did.
  13. Well i dont like how the car tracks, i went to the alignment shop twice since the alignment cause it tracks to the right all the time....Even on flat road surfaces without the road crown like a freeway. What should i suggest they do to correct this?
  14. your right, called them, the parts guy said that i asked for passenger side...... which is a lie, i said whatever! dont have time for that crap, he said he can exchange it when i return it, I should have realized something was off when the new belt had only 2 pins instead of 4 like the old part... Will the 2 missing pins effect the way the srs system works? or is that only for the seat belt reminder chime? if it doesnt effect anything, ill just leave it cause its alot of trouble removing the seat to install it.
  15. crap, i think your right, the plug was green, i thought the color changed cause the part was updated lol, Im going to have to call them and make sure....
  16. Ok replaced the Malfunctioning driverside seatbelt recepticle with the new one. I still need to goto bisimoto to clean the airbag light error code but i have a question.... Ok on the old belt the part number ended in .09 and the new one from porsche ends in .10.... Do the new recepticals stop the seatbelt chime? cause after i installed it, i do not hear the seat belt chime from the dash when the belt is off. Did the fix that porsche made for the belt just make it a permanet closed loop?
  17. No, I did this on my box afew months ago. You probably got the 2 snap on lines mixed up.
  18. Interesting because i've removed the recepticle harness from the vehicle harness under the seat and i cannot see how it would i would need the extra harness????
  19. I have had the airbag light on for some months now, Went to Bisimoto engineering and he hooked up the Durametric software to my box to reveal the drivers side recepticle is the cause of my Airbag light on the dash. Sucks cause the belts were replaced 2 years and 3 months from today and they are garanteed for 2 years only.... So i goto the dealer and buy the drivers side recepticle after trying to clean the connections to no aval. The part number has been superseeded multiple times since 1997 when my boxster was sold. I know my boxster doesnt have the original recepticles and im sure they dont have the newest recepticles... when the parts counter showed me that the new superseeded parts recommend replacing 2 other wire harnesses, this worried me, cause with the cost of the recepticle and the harness im looking at $300+. Problem is that i dont know weather not i already have those other updated harnesses from the repair the dealer made 2 years ago. Could anyone tell me when the harnesses were added to the TSB repair for the seat belt recepticles?
  20. Either the linkage is loose or your bolts on the flywheel are backing out. I'd take it to a non-dealer porsche mechanic to get a look at it.
  21. When you goto the autoparts and look at the gear oil instock, you will see these simple hand pump attachments that screw to the top of the gear oil spout, get the one with a long clear hose, You use that to pump the old fluid out of the container and into the tranny.
  22. ****, that blows, i know that no one was hurt but still.. that hurts in a different way. Atleast if the insurance company is any good, you get something slightly better than yours like a year newer or something with clear headlamps.
  23. Goto a Oil changing shop and have them drain some into a bucket and then check the level and add as needed... the oil level indicator on the dash only accounts for about a cup of oil from top light to bottom light and if your car is parked on a tilted street, it can often say you have no oil on the indicator but you actually do have oil so no worries.
