  1. I assume the gas cap is on tight ? If you left the engine running while filling with gas there is a chance that the gas check valve on the engine has gone and you got an airlock ( unusual) You need to get a read on the errors, there will be codes, a Durametric or ODB reader
  2. I would buy the caps and stick them in place if the bumper did not come with them. They are body colored and I would have thought the caps (LEFT 955 628 301 00 and RIGHT 955 628 302 00) should be available from SunsetImports.com and at low prices.
  3. There was a door seal issue on early models which cause noise at speed but I thought it was noticable at all speeds. There is not much in the way of running gear below that area, the cardan shaft make low frequency droan noises rather than high frequency stuff. Did you look underneath, are all the covers still on ? could be wind noise
  4. You have to rub the climate diference in don't you sport I have not heard of anyone using it, ever.
  5. That was a standard issue on 04's. I would guess the glass hatch microswitch with correct adjustment will fix it.
  6. I would keep driving, if its the shaft you will know soon enough if its the diff its just noisy and can be changed anytime
  7. I had no such behavior in my 04 S, something is very wrong , even the original CDs did not do that
  8. You can have a Sign agreement with the local office so they leave it at the door at your risk
  9. The disc needs to be in the drive while your using it. It does not load anything apart existing local trips as far as I know. I assume you are running with the correct disc in or it would be asking you.
  10. The 08 CD update did a lot to increase detail all over the country. There are 7 discs in the set for different parts of the US, CD 4 covers GA, FL , AL, MS, NC, TN and KY
  11. Wow that 6 mount is very different, was not aware of that. The 6 hitch looks tiny from your picture, the S/TT/TT2 hitch needs a trolley jack to lift it by comparison to that. I have a feeling your going to be SOL. You could just buy a Curt hitch, slightly less that full towing weight but only about a buck fifty or look for a front end junker, I am sure the hitch would be fine since its built like a tank.
  12. That complaint originally was not universal. We were all referred to the Homelink site for the instructions by the dealers at the time. Some vehicles just refused to program, on fixed or rolling code openers. Mine was a ***** to get done, one of the reasons I never moved house haha. On my new ride the programming was a peace of cake, much better design under there I think. It may have also had something to do with the feeble range of the original keys and Kessy set up, there were people who NEVER got the opener to work and gave up.
  13. There are fuse boxes only viewable when you open the front doors, they have an air duct hole on the cover, carefully pry off with a flat bladed driver then refer to the manual for fuse descriptions
  14. Before you do anything big, do you know how old the main and if fitted the reserve batteries are ? The mirror tilting is a default setting, which if it just started happening without someone playing with the dashboard could indicate that power was lost to a control unit and it reset to factory. When the batteries get bad on these all sorts of strange things can begin to occur. Battery first then clear the faults and see if they re occur. IF a compressor is indicated you can get a VW refurb kit and do the job yourself, its behind the passenger side plastic side skirt.
  15. The blower fan is pretty easy to change, its located in the passenger footwell. A little awkward but DIY doable I think the cost is about $130
  16. Sounds like a dumb bad battery effect, certainly battery first anyway and see what happens
  17. If your doing an 08 get your self a right angle ratchet driver. There is a cut out in the sheet metal that allows VERY tight access for the top screw. You end up with both hands under the well cover, 1 working blind lining up the torx into the screw, then pressing the tip hard and the other turning the handle. Take my tip, try for 5 minutes then take a break, walk around, tell yourself you wont be beaten by a dumb design engineer and have another go. I also found that closing my eyes and using the force helped. Worthy of note also is that the bulb is now in a new position, instead of being at the top like the orange one, the clears are at the bottom and with white LEDs does a great job of flood lighting the wheels.
