  1. If I drive with my windows closed, sunroof tilted open, and fan off, I will get the whistling sound in the cabin. To eliminate the whistle in this cabin configuration, I turn on the fan to one notch and it immediately stops.
  2. The wheel bearings have a polarised seal cover on one side. They need to be installed with that side facing the sensor for the PSM to work correctly. If not correctly installed they will generate faults like you are getting.
  3. Check out fuse # 7 and 8 in the fuse box in the engine bay. They are both 20 amp fuses and power the injectors and coils.
  4. What will it cost to replace the key barrel? Surely it's worthwhile to restore keyless operations.
  5. Regarding O2 sensors, I have heard that they have a service life of around 100,000 miles. They will still output after this mileage and won't throw a CEL, but they won't be giving an optimum signal.
  6. This is a description of the compressor ops from the Tech manual. They also call the compressor a regulator in the same manual. "The piston stroke can be continuously varied, based on the electricity strength change of the PWM signal. A large stroke for large (cooling agent) capacity demands and a smaller stroke for smaller capacity demands. The higher the pressure, the further the swash plate can swing out in the direction of the zero request and can decrease the capacity demand of the compressor. Because the compressor works with a variable capacity demand, it is not necessary to control the cooling capacity of the climate control over the on and off switch of a compressor relay. This means that the compressor is turning when enough cooling capacity is there, but can also work with zero requests. In this case the compressor will turn with no burden."
  7. Cayennes do not use compressors with clutches. They use a continuous flow system and regulate the flow of refrigerant for cooling cycles. The compressor is always "on".
  8. How can you over rev the motor in the Cayenne since the DME controls the max revs? Only way I can see this happening is if your going downhill, you have selected a manual gear selection and the car speed increases to a point that over speeds the engine. The DME in this instance has no control over the revs. If the valve impacted the piston it too would have sustained damage. Any valve damage visible with the scope?
  9. It may be worth while looking at upgrading the plastic t piece with a metal substitute. I've read about people sourcing metal tees that will fit the hoses. Will give a more "permanent" repair if anything.
  10. The coolant reservoir plastic tank has also been known to split and cause leaks.
  11. Changing the engine mounts on the Cayenne S should not be an expensive exercise as it can be done without the engine being removed.
  12. 957 has got plastic pipes although different design to the 955. No upgrade aluminium pipes for the 957 as have not been known to fail like the 955. No need to be concerned. Blocked thermostat every 300 - 400 miles seems odd. I'd be checking the temp sensor connections first.
  13. The valve block which lives with the compressor has sensors which have known to play up. Fault code readout is what you need.
  14. Wvicary is correct. I was thinking of the tie rod end ball joints which are line replaceable units.
  15. I can understand the AC drain line being blocked not being covered under warranty, but if the drain line is kinked it should be covered under warranty.
  16. The only hot liquid inside the cabin would be coolant which flows to your heat exchanger. Did it smell like coolant?
  17. You risk engine failure by adding a turbo, as the non turbo engine hasn't the same upgraded cylinder head, pistons, sodium filled valves etc.
