  1. You will se little to no advantage running higher octane unless the car is actually remapped to handle the appropriate firing (timing) to take advantage of the less combustible fuel. Unfortunately the "self learning" aspect of the ECU is more about driver idiosyncrasies (and perhaps to a lesser extent, environmental) than actual fuel differences.
  2. the 996TT is AWD. If you have different running diameters front to back, you could destroy your diff. You didn't post what you are running in the front. I think the guidance is <3%, but I would keep it to <1%.
  3. Thanks, no 5 point, but have used CG lock for track. I love the GT3 seats...WAY better than stock. You actually feel like you are sitting IN the car.

  5. Depends on the car...for example, the cabs in the US are not equipped with the FOB to lower the lid, where in the ROW this is available. Also some lighting...rear fog and side markers must met US DOT requirements.
  6. Are you aware of the current economic conditions? Unfortunately Porsche are not immune to such issues. GT2 is quite a car. It is RWD, and has LOTS of power. I personally would not use it as a DD...it can be a bear in weather (snow and wet). But for anything else....super car!
  7. Sorry to hear of your misfortune, but as Loren says...get the actual codes and post them hear or before you know it your "mechan-hack" will be replacing your engine.

  11. I know this is a little late, but it is best if you disconnect the battery when working on electrical components. This would prevent the airbag light. Have you just tried re-training the windows? Lower all the way and hold window button down for 5 seconds, repeat all the way up and hold for 5 seconds. Try this experiment: without opening the door even a little bit, stand there and pull out on the exterior handle. Does the window drop each time you pull out the handle? Does the window fully raise each time you release the door handle? If the answer to both of these questions is "yes", then the microswitch on that exterior handle is good. Try the same thing with the interior door handle to eliminate it as being bad. (from Kim)

  16. Sorry for your issues, but I have also experienced this. The problem actually is fuel related. Even with the 5bar fpr, you are not getting enough fuel for the system. You will need to tune it back a bit or get new fuel rails.

  18. Since your stock clutch lasted 10 years, it seems you should just stick with it. I went with the Sachs stage 2 GT3RS clutch w/LWFW some time ago (Kevin's package) to handle the increase in HP. I have been happy with its performance, but there is chatter you can hear when at idle. You could also just upgrade the clutch without changing the flywheel. There are many options.
  19. Yeah, unfortunately Porsche does not "trust" their dealers to handle repairing seals in the front diff. I had a very small leak when my car was about a year old. They replaced the entire front diff...go figure.

  21. I did the evoms CAI and blew through several MAFs. IMHO, you need to have the CAI compatible with the ECU (flash), other hardware (turbos, exhaust, etc,), environment (e.g., altitude) and driving style. I now have the dual snorkel Sportec and all is well.
  22. Why don't you try it by disconnecting the front diff. (like when you get it dynoed). If you like it it is not too difficult or costly. I went from a 78 930 RWD that was a bear to handle....I love the AWD FWIW. BTW, you can't gain HP by doing this. You can lose some weight and of course have all of the power to the rear wheel, but this is not gaining HP.
  23. It is quite simple actually, but why? The stock headers are the right size. You might want to port and polish, but you will gain nothing (maybe even lose some) with aftermarket ones IMHO.
