  1. And how are you going to program it to your 986? While Yes the $400 is extremely excessive it usually includes programming so it actually works on your car. Do you have a PST2 or access to one? Before to buy the head i called my Porsche Dealer and asked them how much for programing.... The guy said $60.00...not so expensive...isn't it So the head $96.00 plus a new key blade $8.00 plus programing $60.00 = $164.00. Wow that is a bargain compared with the $400.00.. Bye Bye Robert But if all you need is the top plate because the rubber buttons have failed then your all set. Then where is the other $236 going?

  3. First question is why are you converting your PST2 system to a laptop? I am guessing that there a problem with the PST2 but the HD is fine? I would suggest you buy an IBM 600E or t21,22, or 23 and just insert the hard drive into the IBM. Insert your KTS card and you should be fine. There will be problems using the HD or HD clone in just about any other laptop. Oh and first I would use the actual HD out of the PST2 in the IBM unit. The PST2 HD is very hard to clone properly.
  4. You should get your own set of workshop, diagnostic, OBDII, parts manuals. p1126.pdf p1124.pdf p0445.pdf
  5. Well, It seems the polarity was reversed when it was jumped and did damage to the DME. Have any idea's as to what else might be wrong? Thanks, Dr. Bailey Do you have a PST2, OBDII manuals, complete workshop manuals and I bet you will also need the diagnostic manuals and where in Fla are you located? I have all of the above and I am in Miami.
  6. Thats because the UK site has cheap incomplete outdated manuals. If you want the complete workshop manuals, OBDII manauls with complete OBDII codes and repairs plus TSBs and more PM or email me. I have attached a sample from the OBDII manauls that the UK site doesn't bother to get. I will even help you out completely and give you the proper pages for your problem p0012.pdf
  7. Here is a sample from the 996 manuals to adjust .. Parking brake: Checking the free play of the parking brake lever – Parking brake: Checking the free play of the parking brake lever top of page Parking brake: Checking the free play of the parking brake lever — Checking the free play of the handbrake lever. The parking brake has asbestos-free brake linings. Note The handbrake with asbestos-free brake linings must never be adjusted in such a way that the lining must grind down during operation! The handbrake must be adjusted if the handbrake lever can be pulled up by more than 4 teeth with medium force application (without a braking effect)! Adjusting the parking brake 1. Remove the rear wheels. 2. Undo the parking brake lever and push back the disc brake pads of the rear axle until the brake disc can rotate freely. Note To make the turnbuckle accessible, open the cover of the tray behind the parking brake lever and remove the rubber inlay and also the insert. 3. Undo the adjustment nuts -arrow- on the turnbuckle until the cables are without pretension. 4. With a screwdriver -Figure- , turn the adjustment device through a wheel bolt threaded hole so that the brake disc can no longer be moved. 5. Turn back the adjustment fixture through 5 notches again (release approx. 3 notches until the brake disc can be moved freely, then release another 2 notches). 6. Repeat the procedure on the other wheel. 7. Pull up the parking brake lever by 2 teeth and adjust the adjustment nut of the turnbuckle until both wheels can be turned manually with difficulty. 8. Release the parking brake lever and check whether both wheels can be turned freely. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 996110, 996111, 996210, 996211, 996310, 996311, 996410, 996411, 996430, 996431, 996610, 996611

  11. Please excuse the hi-jack . . . Loren, where are these diagrams and instructions from? Is there a digital repair manual available for the owner (ie. non-dealer)? Yes there is a digital repair manual. It is by Porsche and sent to the dealer in POSES and in the PIWIS. If you want more info PM or email me.
  12. I uploaded the Top Gear Porsche 997 review. I thought it was a great fun video. Check it out here..
  13. If you need more details on the error codes or the Porsche service manuals on the repairs PM or email me.
  14. Also if you check the wheel sizes are different too. It has nothing to do with the Targa style. You would have to get a new set of wheels to match the ones on the front so the wheels and tires match. The advantage would be to do a front to back tire rotation and the tires should last a bit longer. However you will loose alot of the handling and ride qualities. It makes more sense to do a little research into the tires and buy a set with a higher treadlife rating. For example the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position have a treadlife rating of 400 and are rated as AAA and should be about 800 for a set and the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Position have a treadlife rating of 140 and are also rated as AAA and a set of 4 should be about 950. The former should last about 2.5 times longer BTW check out Value Tire in Hallandale, Florida. I use them and have sent a couple of other Porsche owners there. They usually have good prices. Call ahead to get a price.
  15. What happened to the Porsche Tech Site. One used to be able to download workshop manuals, wiring diagrams and more for about $125 per section. I don't see the manuals anymore and the parts info is over a year old. Can you imagine if the dealers used parts info from 14 months ago?
  16. I'm looking at a Boxster in the Bay Area tomorrow (supposed to be an "us" car, but really its for my wife). I'm in Orangevale, have never owned a Porsche before, and have no idea where the good service places are, etc. However I know what a wrench is, and I'm certainly interested in doing some of this stuff myself. First step is getting the car... Rich Second step would be to get a set of workshop manuals and the PET....
  17. How many pages is the workshop manual you received? I just noticed your post. I have almost 3000 pages that seem to cover just about everything on the CGT.
  18. I have a few Porsche Motorsports CDs that cover specific year 996 and 997 Cup Cars, GT3R and GT3RSR cars. If anyone is interested in getting one or has any let me know as its always good to expand the library. And does anyone think that Porsche Motorsports products should have a seperate area??
  19. Do you have a web link for Porschelibrarian, I would like to take advantage of the CD PET regards,' james No weblink just PM or email me here.. And BTW I have new PET update 214 issued July 2007 to the dealers
  20. sorry about that, i would like the owners manual and if possible the service manual thanks I have the complete set of actual 924 Porsche workshop manuals for you. They are in 4 volumes and include the wiring diagrams. I also have the 924 931 Porsche Specifications Manuals and a few annual service manuals for the 924 and 924 Turbo ( 931) PM me for more info
  21. I just checked and you said you have them.
  22. I am starting to put together the workshop manuals for the 997TT. I have the section 1 ENGINE, wiring diagrams, OBDII sections and the current parts data from the dealer PET. If anyone has other sections perhaps we could PM, exchange a bit and ssshhhh...
  23. Hey and check out this link from ALLDATA for the 1990 964. http://www.alldata.com/recall/make/Porsche...ra_2_Targa.html and all other Porsche links are the same deadend. Alldata doesn't compare to the Porsche factory manuals. For an easy comparison ALLDATA has a CD/DVD system for shops and on one DVD has many makes but if I put my collection of workshop manuals, wiring diagrams, TSBs it would take about 30 gigs.

  25. I am in Miami and I have the manuals, tools books and more. I also know just about every Porsche shop in town ( I wonder why???) You should check parts at VERTEX they are 2 blocks from Collection and carry Porsche factory parts. The shop across from Collection is also very good and should be able to take care you in a proper and timely fashion. Both shops have helped me service my 964 and have done a fine job. If you want more recommendations PM or email me
