  1. I replaced driver side window mechanism on my 2003 996 cab without disconnecting battery. Just disconnected airbag after removing door panel. Important to not have key in ignition when airbag is disconnected. It really is a diy. If I can do it anyone can. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  2. I have a 2003 996 cab with 114k miles. The clutch has begun to slip if I drive with any gusto. I can granny it around without slippage. Am I looking at a clutch replacement? If so, any estimates on total cost? I can turn a wrench but no way do I have the time or skill to tackle something of this magnitude. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thank you. 3. My 2003 Carrera cab has 116,000 miles. Major problems were water pump failure and recent AOS failure. I have repaired a few lesser problems including driver side window lift and driver side top hydraulic cylinder. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  4. My Pcar is a 2003 996 cab. Recent AOS failure required trip to the dealer. AOS was replaced and 10K service done (car currently has 110K miles on the clock). I picked the car up a week ago. Ever since, I have noticed a difference in the clutch pedal. Currently requires less force to depress pedal. When starting from a standstill, shift from neutral to first or reverse not smooth, as if the clutch isn't fully disengaged. Any thoughts you might have concerning possible cause gratefully welcome. Anything I might be able to check also welcome. Finally, anything that dealer might have inadvertently done capable of causing these problems? Thank you in advance. Car still has original clutch and IMS.
  5. I have read that after flushing coolant system or losing and replacing all the coolant the 996 engine can develop air pockets which result in overheating in those areas of the engine. The 3.6 apparently doesn't likke being run hot. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  6. Thank you for your kind comments. Glad to see that I'm not the only Porsche owner who is unwilling on unable to tackle a repair job on my ride. To soothe my hurt feelings I fixed my dad's lawnmower today. Lol
  7. I have a 2003 996 cab. AOS found to be cracked. Due to time constraints and lack of faith in my ability to do replacement, I chose to let dealer do the job. $1800 was the cost of the job. I feel ashamed that I did not tackle this myself, and weep for my depleted bank account. Bravo to any and all who did this job themselves. I'm sure they are both wiser and wealthier than me.
  8. I have a 2003 996 cab. Last night the low coolant light flashed. I found the coolant level to be low so I topped it I went for a short drive this morning. After parking the car I found a silver dollar sized fluid mark on my driveway. It is located at roughly the rear of the rear driver's side tire, about 12 inches toward the passenger side. Any ideas on the source of this leak would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance..
  9. Belated welcome Tuner. Always great to get a new member. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  10. A worn or defective ignition switch can cause strange electronic gremlins too. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  11. Welcome aboard! Owning a Pcar mirrors life (by the way i lost and replaced a side mirror as well). There are highs and lows both of which I've experienced. Overall nothing beats the feeling of driving balls out on my favorite back road. Live, love, and enjoy. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  12. I had a leak in hydraulic cylinder of my 03 cab. Got a refurbished cylinder and installed it myself. Fairly easy install. Works like new. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  13. Does the top raise and lower at normal speed before it stops? Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  14. I had that problem in my 2003 carrera cab. Turned out the amp was bad. Bought a used one on ebay and replaced it. All is good now. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  15. How about adjustments to stop noises from cabrio top on 2003 996s? Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  16. Good choice. I think you'll be happy with the result. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  17. I would guess window regulator. They seem to break pretty often. If that is the problem its easy to replace. I suggest getting genuine oem replacement part. I have tried both and found the cheap knockoffs to be unreliable. Bite the bullet on this one. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  18. Cc still working. Guess clutch switch was the culprit. Thanks all. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  19. Update on my previous update: After removing and reinserting key into ignition, the cc is working perfectly. I have no doubt that the clutch switch was defective, as the plunger was stuck and would not compress or release. Hoping for continued good luck. I was afraid I was going to have to replace the stalks. Thank everyone for taking the time to help me out. I really appreciated your suggestions. I will keep you posted of any further developments. Hopefully there won't be any!
  20. Miraculously enough, cc is now working perfectly. We'll see..... Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  21. Ok, I have replaced the clutch switch. Still no joy. The green cruise light comes on when ignition switch is turned but goes out as soon as engine starts. Any further ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
  22. I have received new clutch switch and hope to install this weekend. I'll keep you posted. Thanks all! Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  23. Thank you DBJoe. I will check this and report my findings. I really appreciate your taking the time to respond. I am familiar with the switch on top of the clutch pedal. Not sure where second switch for clutch is located though.
