this is great, thanks. I'm still trying to figure out where I want the V1 and whether or not I want to use the remote display. this is very helpful. I'm assuming that you were not able to use the Valentine supplined remote connector due to limited space?

You can also run the wire across the headliner and down the A piler. You can use a credit card or video store card to help tuck the wire in. Then you can continue to tuck it in along the dash and down the side by the weatherstrip. Run the cable under the dash. Then remove the side panel to the radio. The leather one is removed by pulling at the back side first. Then remove the carpet panel. Pull at the back end first. Now reach in and find the phone harness. Attach the black V1 wire to the brown wire using one of these.

Then attach the red V1 wire to the Green/Black for switched power or the Red/Green for unswitched.

Good luck,

Eric

I did my RX-65 wired remote the same way as Eric. RotoZipped a mounting hole in a blank lower console batwing from Suncoast @ $6.95.

V1 remote looks too big, but maybe?

By the way, initial cuts with Roto blade are okay. Change to drum sander for fine work. With patience you can get a clean press fit.

I did the same for my Pro RX65 and it worked well. Also, the power lead is switched if you lock the vehicle with the remote and will power up as soon as you hit the unlock button on the remote.

Just a few questions as a follow-up to this thread.

I have a 2004 TT X50 with dimming mirror. I wish to power a Roadhawk RH1 Link to RH1 via the power feed in this area. I'm assuming I require a switched supply to ensure that the RH1 activates upon ignition on?

I really need confirmation of which wires I should be connecting to (applying this install to my TT)?

See post number 3 - switched power means on when the ignition is on.

I followed these instructions and installed an Escort Passport 8500 X50 onto the non-auto-dim mirror of my 2001 Porsche 911 (996).

It works perfectly and it is switched. in that it turns off when car is locked and on when car is unlocked. If car is left unlocked "If the ignition key is removed, loads which are switched on or in standby (e.g. power windows, luggage compartment lighting, interior light, radio) are automatically switched off after approximately 2 hours."
