My wife noticed that my back brake lights have different brightness. The left red brake light is substantially less bright from the right. Has anyone else noticed this on their car? Is this a result of different size bulbs or some short in the wiring?

Thanks.

Drove next to a relatively new 996 tonight coming back from the grocery store. His headlights were on, and the left tail light was noticeably brighter than the right. His fog lights were also on - not sure if that affects tail light brightness.

When I got home, both my tail lights were the same brightness, with and without fog lights on. Might be worth checking if fog lights affect tail light brightness

Did he have his rear fog light on?

I just checked my car's rear fog light by pulling the light switch out two notches, besides turning clockwise two settings. Yes, indeed, that seems to be what the guy I saw had done.

Now if that's why DFC's lights aren't the same brightness, then the original puzzle is solved :clapping:
