OEM Brake pads vs Ceramic Pads

My Porsche service Tech mentioned that although the OEM pads create a huge amount of brake dust, the ceramic pads are of concern because of the noise they produce. I might add that my mechanic is not working for a stealership but does have over 25 years of experience with Porsche. What are some of your comments for Cayenne users with ceramic brakes?

I can only state my own personal experience with Hawk HPS pads. When i installed them properly and followed the bed-in procedures they have remained as quiet as the originals that came on the vehicle. The dust situation has improved greatly as I was expecting. The 'feel' of the brakes is as good or better than the originals in my experience.

I have porterfield ceramic pads. Zero noise and Zero dust. The only thing i'd say is to be careful until they come up to temperature!

I currently use EBC and prefer them over OEM...at least half the dust and I haven't experienced any squeaking. That being said I think it's personal preference.

I'm with Working4it on this one. I use EBC Yellows on my '06 CTTS & my Audi RS6 and they are better than OEM, Cheaper, A little lesss dust, no Squeaking, and can't verify yet but suppose to be easier on the rotors.

EBC yellow's are for race only right? I was thinking about buying the red for the rear. I wonder if it makes a difference in winter climate since I live in Buffalo NY. I have an 05 CTT.

I currently use Hawk Ceramics, must say that brake dust is very low compared oem. No noise or squeal but find that brake feel is poor and comparatively lower bite compared to oem

I've also had good luck on my Audi with Hawk HPS pads but the EBC Yellows can be used for racing but they are very popular for performance SUV's.

Has anyone used or heard about the bosch quiet cast pads? They offer a figment for cayennes.

That would depend on the pad from the manufacturer - not all ceramic pads are equal.

I have just brand new rotors and pads fitted on my 2009 CTT... But the NOISE!!!!

The squeal is terrible, and my dealership tells me "to just go and do a few emergency stops...." to try and sort it out.

Does fitting the ceramic pads reduce/eliminate the noise?

I read in the forums that Hawk pads are good, and a lot of talk of EBC yellow/red.....

For basically town/motorway driving, what would be the best selection?

We live in Denmark, so cold wet climate is the norm.... Lots of snow and slush at the moment.... :-)
