944 Cab Window Problem when opening/closing doors

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

I have recently acquired a 1990 944 convertible which has post acquisition developed a problem.

The windows no longer drop that half inch when you open the doors to allow the glass to clear the roof. This worked perfectly when the car was acquired. I have had to change the battery and this is when the issue started. Both windows are affected.

I have owned other convertibles so am familiar with the idea that there is usually a process to go through following a battery change to set the windows to drop when the door is opened. The only thing I could find online was to drop window and hold the window switch down for 10 seconds and then do the same after raising the window. No change other than this blew the switch.

The only other thing I have done is change the window mechanism on the drivers side, but this was done after the fault occurred.

I am now considering the micro switches, as these have been mentioned.

Does anyone know how ton test them?

Would both stop working together?

Love the car, hate having to slam the doors.

Anyone know what I need to do?

Thank you
