Cayman S - Thorax Airbag Resistor Wiring

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

first of all, i would like to excuse my bad english, im from germany. My name is Dominic and i drive a Cayman S. I really love this car, but i hate the seats.

I bought a pairs of "König" seats and im about to install them this weekend. The only problem is, no Dealer does the coding to dissable to dissable the thorax Airbags. So i need to add some resistors on the cables.

Can somebody tell me where i have to wire the resistors? I found this topic with the same question, but no answer:

Thank you very much in advance!!

Any dealership with a PIWIS can disable the throax airbag. Are they saying they refuse to or that they do not know how?

You are correct in your assumption, but many dealers or equipped independents won't do it for liability reasons (you would be disabling a mandated safety system and can be held liable for injuries resulting from doing so).

The responsibility for what you do with your tools in your shop rests with you, so that is an option.  Shops regularly are approached about disabling all sorts of mandated systems, like TPMS, seat belts, air bags, etc.; and simply will not get involved because if someone get injured, the shop is the "deep pockets" in the liability equation.
