CD Holder Removal

Recommended Posts

That was my first "mod" (if you can stretch the term...) on my new Carrera. I had it on my previous Carrera, originally because the CD holder rattled like crazy, and after having the extra storage space for a cell phone, garage door opener, sunglasses, etc., I was glad the CD holder rattled. :D

Pretty much. About a 5 minute job, removing and replacing the switches is the most difficult part.

Tom Morris wrote really good DIY on this... but his site seems to be down right now.

Here are part numbers you will need:

996 552 096 01 D05 Console Shelf (about $41)*

996 552 596 00 Rubber Pad for Tray (about $5)

* Note that the D05 designates Granite Grey interior so your color code may be different.

Pop out 2-4 of the cd holder trays and then grab them and pull.

The new storage bin just snaps in also. About a 30 second job :D

Where/how does one get a storage bin? Also, is the procedure the same for removing

the cassette holder trays?

How about posting some pics of what you've got, and where you got the stuff. I've been this about these exact things. Thanks in advance. jl

The storage bin fits where the CD tray or Cassette tray (or I have been told where the radio is).

Storage bin is: 996.552.253.01.01C -- US MSRP $35.81
