  1. Patrick, Contributing Members can view actual TSB online here. We have no set amount for donations, whatever you feel is appropriate. To donate, simply click one of the PayPal image links at the bottom of any page or on the Donations link at the top.
  2. I do not have a copy of that TSB. I did check the parts list and the thermostat part has not changed. So, it could be a selective replacement (by VIN) TSB. I'll ask around and see if other folks with subscriptions got this one.
  3. Contributing Members get access to the TSB Listing with links to the actual TSB. The approved oils list is a TSB there. The most popular approved oils are in the Oil Change DIY sectrion also.
  4. Which piece the knob or the part of the trim below the knob? (and color?)
  5. You will need to: 1. Open the convertible top half-way. 2. Apply lubricant (krytox) thinly onto the rubber spacer only.
  6. Well, they may fit but they were made for the MY02 and newer cars. I don't really care for how the new ones attach though. The older Aerokit Cup sideskirts attach using epoxy and screws where the new ones use a few screws and double stick tape. Either way find a quality installer. When they are painted and attached you should not see any gap where they meet the body (i.e. less than 1/16 inch). You can get either from Carnewal.com or Sunset Porsche.
  7. Are these for the Aerokit Cup or the newer Aerokit II? They are different instructions...
  8. PCA Tech Specialist Allan Caldwell answered this once before. Here is his reply:
  9. It is pretty much identical to what ninerguru did. His DIY has pics here
  10. Brown = Ground Red / Green = Switched 12 volts Green / Black = Unswitched 12 volts Yellow / Black = Telephone Mute Some early Boxster's had only 3 wires I believe. Perhaps Jeff has the connector info?
  11. Uh... we jacked the car up on the main engine support brace. Then we put a jack stand at the factory points on each side.
  12. No, the GT3 is a completely different engine than the 996. The headers on the new GT3 are very close to the (Porsche Motorsports parts) headers used on the Cup Cars.
  13. Folks there is a TSB out there stating that this is a known problem. A good dealer will replace your radio (with one that doesn't have peeling buttons) regardless of your warranty. BTW... either way your replacement radio could be a reconditioned one or new one depending on stock.
  14. Something does not sound right. I drive some a Laguna Seca which is very hard on brakes and likely put several hundred laps on the stock pads before changing them (and not the rotors). If the brakes are overheating I would start by checking the age and conditon of the brake fluid, the front brake cooling ducts/spoilers and the you might also have someone out a PST2 on the car and see if there are any ABS errors recorded. It almost makes me thing the brakes are not releasing soon enough. The brake ducts are flap 3 in Jeff's picture
  15. They are using the Yellows on the GT3 and as the base pad on the Cup Cars. I think this is a good street/track pad.

    GT3 shop manuals

The GT3 (both Mk1 and Mk 2) are covered in the Carrera Workshop Manuals. Carrera (1999 on) -- Workshop Manual -- 88 supplements -- 15 volumes -- WKD-483-721 Now the bad news... Porsche more than tripled the price of manuals on Jan 1. They were $478 for the set and I don't even want to guess what they are now!
  17. That part number has been replaced by 955 618 029 02. All the parts list says is "control unit rear end". It is about $100 cheaper than the original part number. (The original number was $306).
  18. Send a message to Jay-Three . He did it with using a painted plug from BumperPlugs.com. About a 30 min job as I recall.
  19. Sorry, they won't fit anything older than a MY02. The rear bumper design changed in MY02 and they can use those nice 4 pipe tailpipes... unless of course you install the newer rear bumper ;)
  20. I would look for any rattles as they likely mean internal welds have come loose. Also, any sign of external damage.
  21. Well if you are removing all of the PSE components that's quite a job. The wiring goes from the engine compartment to the relay panel near the drivers left foot. And then there is all the vacuum stuff in the engine compartment. If you are just getting the mufflers then that is easy. The valves on the mufflers are normally in the open position (loud). To close the valves you use a vacuum connection from the engine (that is controlled by an electronic solenoid). What type of install are you planning? Just mufflers or the whole thing?
  22. Fuel filter, spark plugs, water in gas? Could be lots of things. Best to just start eliminating variables.
