  1. Any good OBD II reader can reset a CEL.
  2. I have not done this but here is what the service manual says. 1. Open rear window and pull off cover caps from the fastening screws. 2. Removing upper part of rear spoiler. Unscrew fastening screws (3 I think) from inside. 3. Remove upper part of rear spoiler backwards and upwards. Nothing in there anyway... ;)
  3. Yes, there is both switched and unswitched power on the telephone prep connector. brown and green/black wire? http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...ost&p=23826 http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...ost&p=18375
  4. Any generic fault code reader should tell you the fault code(s).
  5. The wire colors change on the later models but the basic process is the same. Kirby did this on a couple of late model cars at a WOCD - San Jose and MY02 had different wire colors as did the MY04 car we worked on.
  6. DTC 4206 Front left speed sensor, signal implausible Possible faults (cause in the event of deviation): 1. Air gap between speed sensor and gear wheel (pulse wheel) too large or, due to wear (chip formation), too small (check installation). 2. Pulse wheel defective or corroded. 3. Wheel bearing damage (wheel bearing not adjustable). 4. Plug connection in wiring from the speed sensor to the control module or PIN on the control module connector not OK.
  7. The Retail Price Search feature (for our Contributing Members) has been updated to reflect September 2008 pricing for the US (only). We try and update this on a monthly basis as the price lists come available to us. For September 2008 the price lists support: US: 267,735 parts (that is about a 40,000 part number increase over August 2008) Canada: 209,209 parts (December 2006) Thanks again to Contributing Member Porschelibrarian!
  8. Yes, there is both switched and unswitched power on the telephone prep connector.
  9. Try 2500 or 2498
  10. MSRP on a new water pump is $307 - so $800 for labor seems way high to me. If you are talking about the HVAC fan MSRP is $464 so that is a little more in line with "normal charges".
  11. or the one here on RennTech.org... How to remove/repair your hood/trunk latch releases
  12. Where is this bleed valve (or "wire bail thing")? In the coolant tank? Regards Kare Right next to the blue cap.
  13. :welcome: my86_944_engine.pdf
  14. No, that is why I say solve a problems at a time. The idles problem is likely related to a dirty throttle body.
  15. Try 1402 or 1400
  16. Depends... corrosion and overtightening are their enemies.
  17. With any battery drain you need to isolate the circuit the problem is on. Usually you do this by measuring the current load with the engine off (you will need an amp meter for this). Normal is around 40-60 ma. If it is higher then pull fuses one at a time until the current drop significantly. That circuit is the the circuit with the drain - and you will then need to see what is on the circuit that causes the problem.
  18. You will need the Durametric software or a PIWIS tester to turn off the airbag light.
  19. Or... replace them with a single air horn (like many of us have).
  20. :welcome: See the front bumper removal DIY. The horns will be on the right front of the car.
  21. Solve one problem at a time. A car with that many miles likely needs new O2 sensors if they have not been changed. It is rather odd that both sides (P0130 and P0150) would go bad at the same time - so I would have a look at the wiring before changing the sensors. For the other codes start by cleaning the MAF and the throttle body.
  22. Trak Auto doesn't allow people to use their OBDII to check CEL's anymore, but it has been P1121 consistently in the past. P1121 Throttle position sensor 1 - signal implausible Throttle position sensor 1 - below limit Throttle position sensor 1 - above limit Possible fault cause: - Open circuit in wiring - Short circuit in wiring - Throttle position sensor faulty - DME control module faulty Hi Loren....sorry, I didn't see your post. I don't know where the wiring, throttle position sensor, or DME control module are located. Do I have to go to the dealer for this, or is this something I can do myself with some instruction? Please let me know. Thanks! The throttle position sensor is on the throttle body. Well, you can check the throttle position sensor with an oscilloscope. You should get very short duration pulses every 400 microseconds (or so) at closed throttle and 100 microsecond pulses with wide open throttle. or you could hope the wiring is okay and try a new throttle position sensor.
  23. That is the right side A pillar (passenger side on a LHD car).
