  1. Only optional shift knobs (leather/aluminum, carbon, etc.) have the set screw. The set screw is a hex bolt - you would need an allen wrench 5 or 6 mm.
  2. My list comes from the Porsche parts list for that item. There is a TSB for this kit but I have not received it yet.
  3. Well the Fabspeed kit has a very nice plug for the hole that is left when you remove the baffle -- I just can't see spending $200 for it. If you remove the screens and the baffle you will get a much better induction sound and I think faster revs. Just removing the screens and a free flowing air cleaner like a BMC or K&N will give you some noticeable improvement also (IMHO).
  4. Do you mean the Tequipment package "Drive Power 500 PS"? If so, the parts list is three pages long. Looks like larger air intake pipes (for the turbos), air ducts, tie rods, struts, brakes and a different suspension control unit.
  5. Get some felt tape and have a look at TSB 1/00 7018 Noises In The Dashboard Area (dated 6-30-00) -- page 5, Noise in area 5 – Creaking and/or rattling noises on the panel for passenger’s airbag.
  6. The 000 part number is for the Tequipment "set of 4". The 993 number is the individual part number for the cap.

  9. Well, they are in PET. PET is published monthly and some part numbers change every month. Kind of a moving target - what ever we would publish would likely be out of date in a month or two. That's why I look them up each time.
  10. Not for Boxsters - Carrera's have changed, there was a pretty major change for MY02 and the 3.6 liter engine - plus you can get the X74 (20 mm lower) for MY02 - on Carrera's since they added some chassis stiffening.
  11. I think the shocks changed several times from MY02-MY05. Not that one is any better than the other. Different weights of cars (body style) , transmissions, 4WD (996's), etc. all affect the cars handling so springs, shocks and sometime swaybars are different. Porsche really does tune these suspensions to the cars.
  12. US, Canada, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong are 315 mhz. All the rest are 433 mhz.
  13. Down below and behind the radio/storage shelfs is phone prep connector with both switched and unswitched 12 volts. +12 volts unswitched (red/green) +12 volts switched (green/black) Ground (brown wire) Telephone Mute Signal (yellow/black wire)

  15. See my post here. The brackets stay on the mufflers. Just remove the the three 13 mm nuts and the cat sleeve and it will rotate out.
  16. Hmm... it maybe more than a wiring problem. The C4 has a different sending unit to go with the "saddle bag" tank the fits over the front axle. So I suspect the calibration is much different. Also, is your engine egas or not? All C4's were egas (regardless of year) so I suspect that the cluster for a C4 is expecting some different DME signals. I'll send you a PM.

  19. If you are using the same type brake fluid then I disagree. In a perfect world there would be a way to remove all the dirty oil from your engine too - but you can't without flushing. If you are changing the type of brake fluid from the original ethylene glycol type (which Porsche recommends) to say a silicone brake fluid then - yes, all traces of the non compatible type should be flushed /removed. IMHO if you change your brake fluid regularly you are doing the same as what you do with an oil change and making the concentration 99.9% new product. With flushing you might get to 99.99%.
  20. Well it could be just a bad connection or a pinched wire. They should use a meter on the wires and actuator first. I have to agree that if it were the actuator the car would run like crap. Really sounds like an intermittent connection to me.
  21. Did they not scan for the proper P-Code? A fault 178 could be either a P1524 or a P1539. P1524 -- No triggering of the actuator, active position nevertheless. Potential causes: Short to ground or Actuator faulty. P1539 -- Actuator triggered, no active position. Potential causes: Open circuit in triggering wire, or Open circuit in B+ supply, or Actuator faulty. Lot's of difference between an open and a short... looks like a bad connection.
