  1. I actually do not have any decent pictures with soft top up. I'll take some and post them here in a few days.
  2. That gallery went down a few months ago, I emailed him about it, but nothing happened. You can check out my car it's Ocean Blue (similar to Lapis) and I have a Graphite Grey top.
  3. You won't have a problem using non-OEM parts, but you don't to buy anything too cheap. Will your really trust your Porsche to a $100 axle?
  4. This depends on which switch you are using. If you are using the footwell lighting switch the only way to get illumination is to replace the switch, or hack it. A search should turn up some more information on this. I decided not to bother with this, and have no problem finding it in the dark.
  5. I understand your concern, I emailed automotion and they gave me the part number for the mini hood crest, which could very well be the crest they are selling as a 'genuine hood crest.' It is impossible to know for sure though.
  6. I am fairly certain the airbag crest is not made out of metal, and as it's the name implies it was made to go on the airbag.
  7. Those darn bots finally infiltrated RennTech. I am sure Loren and the administrators will take care of it soon.
  8. Your right, Pelican parts rerouted me the part number you listed. I wonder if it's the correct size for a four spoke wheel.
  9. I hate to bump an old thread, but I got a part number for this. It's 644.559.210.10. I emailed Automotion, and they sent me the part number, Pelican Parts says it's from the 356, and is listed as a mini crest for $32. The guy selling these on eBay is marking them up 50%.
  10. I have looked into adding heated seats in the past. It seems fairly simple depending on how you do it. If you want it to be completely OEM look here, and get $2k ready. I was thinking about getting aftermarket heaters and wiring them into the phone power plug, which could probaly be done for less than $200. The problem is that if you want to use the OEM heater switches you have to figure out how to wire them properly which is what put me off. Since the center of the seat back is removable it would be really simple to install just a backrest heater, you wouldn't even need to remove the seats. If you do end up doing this, post what you did and maybe some pictures and instructions I would like to see it. :)
  11. No 986 Boxster's have limited slip differentials, but they can be added.
  12. Hi, I put my hardtop on a few days ago, and had a small problem while doing so, which has created a very annoying problem. The defroster plug behind the drivers seat came undone. I managed to get the plug back onto its mount, but apparenty the mounting clip (that hold the defroster plug) is going, which has created a very annoying rattle. It appears the only solution is to replace the plastic piece the plug mounts onto. Has anyone done this? Instructions? Part numbers? Thanks! :D
  13. The forum looks great, everything is a lot crisper. Great color choices! :D
  14. They don't tilt on a 986 Boxster. But I wonder if it would be possible to swap them out for the 996 cab visors. Most of the front end is similar, but the roof maybe too different.
  15. I've never seen that spoiler before, but it does look very cool. If you figure out wher to get one let me know. :D
  16. If you flush the coolant system you can use non Porsche coolant but there are only a few others that work well. If you mix coolant, it can turn into a gelatin and kill your engine. Which makes me feel like a $30 gallon of Porsche coolant isn't to expensive. (Since it's 50/50 with distilled water, your sort of getting two gallons).
  17. If your topping off use what's already in the car. Don't use the cheap walmart stuff, do a search for approved coolants.
  18. I know what you mean, they told me it was broken when I brought it in, then said it wasn't broken $600 later. I wish I didn't win though!
  19. Hey, at least your dealer didn't take your car two times each time for two weeks, charge you $600 for a spark plug change, then tell you nothing was wrong. Because they did that to me. Luckily, I have a new dealership, which is not a stealership.
  20. It sounds to me like a window alignment issue. The window tilt (in and out) can be adjusted but it requires disassembling the door. It isn't to hard to do, but if your not to good with tools I would leave it to the dealer or shop to do.
  21. The vibration would be my concern. But if it doesn't have that problem it looks like a great solution to a problem many Boxster owners want to solve.
