  1. Are you using silicon glue. Heat up the backside w a heat gun and make sure there is plenty of silicon to seat the enclosure.
  2. I heard turning off your ac a few mi before shutting engine off can reduce odor from dirty ac vents. Not sure if that's true though
  3. ditto, most ridiculous advice given I've seen. How is someone going to be able to hold a rotating tire/wheel weighing 40lbs? Just bleed the fluid and be happy that it's done. The drop of fluid inside the ABS unit can't possibly compromise the litre that you just replaced.
  4. You wash it with car wash detergent. Your cover will still come out clean w only a couple spoons of cash wash solution. After a few washer now the cover still repells water fine. Car wash is gentle as it doesn't strip wax.
  5. Porsche won't make money selling warranty. If anything, they probly lose money given how much dealers charge, even at their special rate. Most 3rd party warranty are worthless. I would only buy them from the one's you've researched on. A random warranty co is usually screwing their customers. The CEL code can be read from the car. If the code hasn't been erased, dealer can scan it again while the warranty guy is there. That should be sufficient.
  6. Double check the alignment. Where did you go last time? Also are the tires properly inflated? PS2 is softer than Conti.
  7. You guys never read the manual do you? It says not to use any other coolant right in there. Could have saved yourself a bunch of trouble. I stick with Porsche fluids in my car. There is no need to mess around to save a few bucks.
  8. Price actually is surpisingly low to me. OEM Coolant is around $35 a gallon at the parts counter actually. I'd gladly walk away from a Porsche break down with less than $500 in tow and repair with a smile. The fact that they took parts off to get you on the road is something you won't find in a dealer of another lesser brand like MB or BMW.
  9. That's the option code sticker. Doesn't look like you have phone kit option added so that'd be needed as an input.
  10. cd changer to HU on MOST is fiber optic so you can't use it as an input. I wish that input is standard toslink optic cable with a controller wiring. bottomline, what do you want to add to your existing system? If it's XM, just get an XM w FM modulator. If you want a new HU w Nav, get the whole system rewired w new amps.
  11. I'm afraid MOST isn't compatible w aftermarket. You'll have to re-wire everything. Since you want ability to easily reverse back to factory stereo, I'd recommend you don't bother messing with stock stereo. I think FM modulator is the only way to get XM through existing system which may not work best.
  12. Given your tail light was out too, I'd guess your bumper is toasted beyond a scrape or two. Your probly looking at $2000 at least in repair including a new tail light and bumper. Hope your heat shields and other bumper pieces aren't busted. Hit a wall.... Hmmm
  13. Check DYI section here. I think the removal instructions for console are on this site.
  14. Year of your Boxster please. Earlier year Boxster requires AC control to be relocated to make room for the pop out cup holder. Latest MY have ones that slide out. upper console pops out. rear console requires removal of several torx screws in front and back. get a good repaint job and avoid avg joe paint shop.
  15. Yeah, GT3 bumper will be a direct fit but it's just a little deeper than 02+ fronts so not a big visual difference. The techart has a very aggressive front but you'll probly want a misha wing in back to match the look.
  16. Wow, what race is that? Did the driver walk away okay?
  17. They'll have to replace the leather section which will be different in wear mark thans the rest of teh seat. You can either buy an old set to swap leather or have the shop recover the whole seat. You may also consider sport seats or adding heat to yours while the seat is taken apart.
  18. Some one did this on a 03+ car w MOST. He wired the bluetooth directly to the L driver speaker and hardwired power. You won't be able to tap into the PCM since you're on MOST. This means you'll have to turn down the music before answering the phone. I think the install was a parrot kit. Try searching it. It was about 2-3 mo ago.
  19. Assuming zero deductible, I think it's a pretty good deal if they actually live up to their promises. Is it worth it? That depends on the car's repair history. If RMS has occured before and this warranty covers up to an engine replacemnt, I think it's worth considering. What is their coverage on labor rate? Dealer rates are often 2x the coverage so you'd be out of pocket unless you go to some crappy shop like Sears.
  20. I am guessing the slope of the driveway causes the tire to loose traction and ABS may have kicked in. 997 front end is notorious to lose traction on uneven pavement or slope due to little weight in front. Try stopping the car earlier on the slope or at 2-3 MPH to see if this still causes an issue still. If so, the culprit could be in the ABS, PSM (if equipped), tires. You may also try entering the driveway at an angle to make the car less skid prone.
  21. Not sure if this is a DYI. You should do a search on water pump. I'd probly change the thermostat at the same time and flush the fluids if it's never been changed (even though Porsche claims coolant is lifetime). If belt is worn, change that too. Often, water pumps fail due to crud in coolant or rusting due to inproperty mixture.
  22. Brake slip meaning brakes releases? Is this going up the incline? Are you rolling onto the drive way in one continuous motion without coming to a stop?
  23. Why not just scrap off all the paint? It doesn't look like a touch up job. Repainting it professionally will not be worth it. You can either re-paint it yourself or upgrade to a CF or another alum painted knob.
  24. I think you should go to a pro. They can detect leak and add the right amount of R134. Get recommendation on a AC specialist from a dealer. R134 isn't too expensive but you want to find out why your freon is low. Also, run the AC once a week or so to keep the seals lubricated. It tends the life.
