  1. You certainly could replace it with an aftermarket...perhaps the boxster (986) forum would be better to ask?
  2. Uh...I always thought LSD was limited slip differential and it was installed when folks went from AWD to RWD...I have no idea what an LSD door kit is.
  3. Yeah, sorry I used the wrong term. I fixed it...with a non-technical "stuff" term...LOL Phillip is correct, thank you sir!
  4. good info. I know there was a discussion (somewhere) of some folks forgetting to use the stock washer when the PSS9s were installed.
  5. I bought most of my CF trim from MAcarbon. I do not know the linked set, but it looks like it is just stick on stuff (peel and stick)? Not sure of durability?
  6. Of course if you get on these sites, you will find problems. How "typical" the problems are is another question. Here are some things to consider: 1. Power steering reservoir (TSB) 2. Ruptured fuel lines and fuel pump 3. Key FOB 4. Maf 5. O2 sensors 6. Coolant cap 7. window/door electronics 8. Battery Others I've had replaced under warranty: Nav system, Alarm module, Front differential
  7. Yes, for the drivers side, you have to remove the switch first....see here:
  8. Cleaner and sealant...the sealant does restore some of the color (shouldn't look as faded). I would try cleaning it again and applying at least two coats of sealant.
  9. Have you tried just using RaggTopp cleaner and sealer. Most of the wrinkles come out with a good cleaning and sitting in the sun. If it still operates and seals OK I wouldn't change it. Black would look great on the car BTW....
  10. You are probably fine given you don't drive excessively fast. There are several who have done that lip with no reported handling issues.
  11. First, is this a dealer? Are they using PIWIS or PST2 to reprogram? Do you trust them? To reset, put the battery in reverse polarity for 10 seconds, then install correctly.
  12. As long as the replacement key has the tag identifier, it can be reprogrammed for your car. You might also check with sunset (see link at top) as they give the best deals on Porsche parts. How do they know the FOB is damaged? Have you tried changing battery, resetting it? Why can't it just be re-programmed?
  13. Dealers will just install new ones. Probably best bet is to try and get one used from someone that installed a fixed wing.
  14. TMK, you can get history using several online services and I don't think they need owner's permission...I think there is a charge for this.
  15. For the two Porsches I have sold, they were friends, so it was easy. We did have a guy here in town try to meet someone to sell his P-car and was murdered, so watch out for those you don't know.
  16. I use the valeo and it fits nicely...the passenger side tip is just slightly raised above the glass, but works (and looks) much better than OEM.
  17. Welcome aboard. IMO, the C4S would make an excellent DD, clearance is the only issue you will have in the white stuff. If you are really into mods though you would be better off with a turbo as they are much more modable. I would never add the turbo to a C4S...the cost of changing the tranny, clutch, internals to get there...it would be cheaper and more reliable to get a turbo to start. The one on the six has the turbo after the cats...go figure?
  18. MY please...if it is 02+, the fuel filter is part of the fuel pump and is not normally changed. May be it is a dumb question; what is MY (like MY01 or MY02) stands for? :( Thanks Nghia Model Year...better for identifying the car specs as the purchase year could be different.
  19. When you reattached, did you hear a click? You can always give it a go...it won't destroy your car....
  20. No help here...my wife will NOT even ride in mine...of course that is a positive...LOL
  21. PST2 & PIWIS are Porsche diagnostic tools....either a dealer or some indy's would have it. If it plays cds, I would think mechanically it is OK. Pushing Main and Trip buttons shows what? Try hitting the set button with the Nav screen showing, then hit restore factory and then map.... or try disconnecting the battery for a few hours...(remember to have your radio unlock code first).
