  1. Those are the parking lights. They are not very bright in daytime though.
  2. A phone consultation with Jake Raby would be my first stop. He saved me a ton on my 996 and is uber honest. At least pick his brain for some options. I am so sorry to hear of your second loss. Best of luck!
  3. Simple Green for aircraft is safer on wheels but you should really check out Sonax. It smells horrible but is a great wheel cleaner.
  4. ^^^^ Very well stated. LN and Flat 6 keep meticulous records and their install and success rate numbers are great. I just had my IMSB retrofitted up at Flat 6 Innovations in Georgia due in part to the success numbers. My dual row bearing in my 996 was in exceptional shape with 117,000 miles. But, peace of mind is now what I have. To me, putting a superior part in a place that can cause superior problems if failed just made sense. Bottom line, if you can afford the LN bearing I would bite the bullet and do it right the first time.
  5. I found the exact same charger in my 996. It worked but not trusting the quality, I replaced it with a Battery Tender.
  6. How big are those bits? They look huge in the picture unless they are magnified.
  7. Funny that you bring up the speedometer issue. Mine was spot on, gps checked, when I had 19" wheels on my 2000 996. I just went back to stock spec'd 18" wheels and speedometer is reading 5mph high compared with gps. How does one calibrate a Porsche speedo? Dealer thing?
  8. Love the matte wrap! Looking sweet. Let me ask a question since I have you here. My 2000 has the same wing as yours with the same stock front bumper cover. I am headed to my first DE next week and have read that the car may be squirrelly at speed due to the downforce at the rear and lack of at the front. What speeds are you comfortably running at on the straights?
  9. Leathermasters also makes an interior ink remover. It works very well. You may have to google it. The hairspray trick actually does work. Remember to recondition afterwards.
  10. You may also try a Mr.Clean Magic Eraser. The non bleach kind. Use it lightly and don't get all gorilla with it.
  11. I had those same wheels on mine! I just changed out to some 18's. The 19's were giving me some rub on the track. Great looking car there!
  12. Here is my 2000 996 with some Photoshop enhancements. I just changed out the wheels last week to Champions.
  13. Busch Enterprises out of North Carolina makes a product called Clear Coat Remover made just for rims. www.buschshineproducts.com. Brush it on; let dwell, then rinse off. It's the right tool for the job. It doesn't require the removal or covering of the tire. Afterwards, polish. Make sure you remove the polish residue (alcohol, naptha) before reclearing, since many metal polishes will leave a polymer coating behind that will prevent the clear from adhering. Good luck.
  14. Disregard my previous post. I found a conversion calc. Looks like 225/40 front and 265/35 rear. Hopefully all will fit without spacers and no rubbing.
  15. I hate to restart and bump a thread but I have tire fitment question. I just ordered new rims to replace my 19's on my 2000 996 C2. I have gone to 18's this time around. Now, my question is, what size tires to get for the new wheels. I couldnt find a reverse calculator online to compute it. My new wheel sizes are: 18" x 8.5 Front ET 52 18" x 10 Rear ET 58 Suspension is completely stock. Thanks for any help guys!
  16. I had a had start issue after fueling and did the Regeneration Valve change which solved the problem immediately. I did go with the Pelican one. I did find they were called different things depending on where you looked. I took the forum advice and stuck with the Regeneration name and sourced it.
  17. I love my LED tails. They are cleaner looking and brighter. The stock lights offer so little light exposure and I feel safer with them. Headlights? No freakin way. Stock.
  18. Those will clean up just fine. My process is to dry sand then wet sand. Final step is polish and re-clear. The kits in the store will work pretty well. The failure point of the kits is the sealant or coating. It will not last very long. Once you abrade off the factory UV coating it will yellow and haze eventually. I use actual clear coat on my clients lights...and my own 996. Give the kits a try.
  19. I ordered a set of those out of pure curiosity. Build quality was horrible and I sent them back.
  20. Awesome! I am going to mod mine tomorrow. My range now is to stand at the windshield. Maddening. Thanks for he post and pics.
