  1. Maybe a silly question but did you clear the codes with the generic code reader or are you thinking they would just clear themselves? Most Generic code readers will clear the codes, I think the codes might automatically clear if you drive it for a few miles without the computer sensing the fault anymore, at least for the check engine light, but the code will probably be locked in the ECU until cleared.
  2. Some Turbo engines with the Boost raised will do better with the Spark plug gap slightly reduced as the higher pressures can quench the spark. Do a Google search and you can see what the consensus is.
  3. Sorry but I think you will need to get it to an Authorized Porsche dealer or someone that is an authorized Porsche repair facility.
  4. If they have a real PIWIS they don't need the old ECU, they just need to code the new ECU to your VIN number. As in your situation, there would be many occasions where having the old ECU would be impossible, but due to theft, the ECU's are coded to the VIN of the vehicle they came out of.
  5. Harry4fish, sounds like you have a Fiberoptic connection that is loose. That used to happen to my '06 Turbo S and I found the loose connection behind the glovebox where the dealer installed (NavTV) Ipod box was plugged in. I thought it was my Mobridge connections that I put in the right rear where the OEM CD Changer was and was constantly checking them until I finally found the problem, a little tape to keep it from coming loose again and never a problem since.
  6. I highly recommend the Motive Power bleeder, it has a pump on the resevoir so it will always keep your Master cylinder full and has a pressure gauge on it, around $50~$60. 20psi is max, closer to 15psi is probably better. Just use a clear piece of hose or a purpose made bleeder hose (available from many auto parts stores) on your brake caliper bleeder screw. You will see the fluid change from a dirty or brown/black color to a more clear or blue or ..... color depending on the fluid you use. Porsche has gone to a DOT 5.1 (not to be confused with the Silicone based DOT 5) fluid but any quality DOT 4 or Dot 5.1 fluid is fine, stick to a name brand: Motul, ATE, AP, Castrol, etc... I probably overbleed mine when I do the job and use close to 2qts, it can be done with less but they are big calipers and I hate to leave any dirty fluid in the system.
  7. I agree with wvicary, have your mechanic pull the pan and check the connections. Are you sure your mechanic knows the proper fill procedure and is measuring the correct temperature when doing it? 6.5 qts sounds a little light to me, I think mine took somewhere around 8~9qts but I did pull the pan and let it drain overnight.
  8. No, they are simple except the tranny. They all have drain plugs on the bottom and fill plugs on the side. Front & Rear diffs take synthetic 75w/90 gear oil and the transfer case takes LT71141 spec ATF which is slightly different than the transmission ATF spec which is Mobil3309 I believe. Some of the premium Synthetic ATF's cover both specs, such as the Redline D4 I used. The Automatic tranny has a fairly standard ATF filter inside the pan but the fill procedure will require you to have a laptop with the Durametric program to fill to the proper level at a certain temperature.
  9. Can you code the digital readout in the Speedo to Miles from Kilometers?
  10. It seems that since you just recently got a tune that maybe it could be the culprit? What company is the tune from? It could be that the extra boost from the tune caused a leak in a hose or fitting, or extra crankcase PCV pressure caused a leak?
  11. I'm using Redline 5w-40 and also notice less oil use than with 0w-40 Mobil 1. Also, the Mobil 1 HTHS (High Temp High Shear) rating is 3.8 whereas the Redline HTHS is 4.6
  12. 11S is still available but Porsche put out a TSB saying they were switching to CHF202 and that it was backwards compatible. And the Bonus is that last time I checked the 202 was a little cheaper than the 11S.
  13. An Audi thread but a good bit of info on a couple of the Bosch Diverter valves. http://www.audizine....Diverter-Valves And from Hoppen Motorsports http://www.hoppenmotorsport.com/BoschBypass.htm
  14. Yea, they call for a Esso/Mobil 3309 for the Transmission funny enough. Thing is their are many high quality Synthetics that can meet both specifications but I don't think their is a conventional ATF that can meet both, wonder if the factory fluid is Synthetic or Conventional. I would imagine all of the new stuff is Synthetic but back in the day? I used Redline D4 ATF for both which meets both specifications.
  15. Yes, transfer case oil. LT71141 is an Esso spec oil. Any good quality Synthetic ATF will probably be as good or better than the OEM stuff. Mine was definitely thin as an ATF and definitely not a 75/90 gear oil. I used Redline D4 ATF which exceeds Esso spec LT71141. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2393008
  16. The latest is a .09 revision part. I got all 8 from Hennessy Porsche for around $320 a few weeks back.
  17. Porsche uses an ATF in the transfer case which is thin, and their are better ATF's out there than what Porsche used back then but I don't think the lubricating properties are subpar. Their have been a few transfer box failures but not too many. I think to change them all (transfer case, both Diff's, and even tranny fluid) is good preventitive Mx if you plan on keeping it a long time. I changed everything on my '06 CTTS between 55~58K. If I still have it I'll do it again sometime after 100K.
  18. My first thought would be to check the wiring and/or the temp sensor to make sure it is the correct one if it isn't working. The fans are fused also, check your manual as mine is a '06 so it is most likely a different fuse.
  19. I would just get a name brand pipe that is Stainless. I have the Fabspeed and they are good quality & fit. One isn't going to give more performance than the other as they are just basicall a straight (slight bends) replacement for the rear Cats.
  20. I do have the PCM2.1 update discs. You will still need the newer (late 2005 or later) Nav Map discs. I am currently out of the country and will be back around. 6/22.
  21. Thanks all. I guess that's what I get for living in this part of the country. I'll keep XM in the Audi but probably let it go in the Cayenne. I was hoping that Porsche maybe had a retrofitable newer Antenna.
  22. For anyone of you with the factory Satellite radio and who live in fairly wooded areas is your Satellite reception in the Cayenne poor? Mine is a '06 CTTS and it cuts out way more than in my 2003 Audi, as in a 40 minute drive to work my Audi might loose reception for maybe a total of 1min or less and during the same drive the Cayenne looses it for probably 10min on the drive. Any chance Porsche has an updated Antenna that has improved reception? My Audi has the Sharkfin roof antenna and parked in the garage with the garage door open the Nav and the Satellite radio will get reception.
  23. I thought the same thing when I saw mine as my Coolant pipes were done but they didn't do the Plastic "T's at the time but after doing a little looking around discovered it was just the Coolant tank thankfully, what a relief.
