Crested Valve Sleeve Installation

How do you install the crested valve sleeves? They came with the valves as well. Do you have to replace the tyre valve, or can you just screw the sleeve over the original valves

Just use your new caps on your existing valve stems if they fit.

Save the valve stems for when it is time to replace the tires.

They won't fit on hollow spoke wheels with the valve stem locking nut- they are too long.

I think they just slip over the existing valve stem, and are held in place when you screw on the cap. That is, if you have the proper length stem already installed on your wheel presently.

Because these valve caps are so fragile, they are shipped on a set of valve stems. Just screw them on your existing valve stems, and wait for them to be stolen. (speaking from experience)

I always thought that the colored wheel cap centers looked like easy pickings.... Do I take it that they are a little trickier to remove.

I think this will make a good social experiment.....The car's arriving in about 1 week. I'll put them on and report back if/when they get stolen

I guess it depends on where you live but I have had them on for over two years and never had I problem. BTW, I am in Atlanta.

My money is on 'losing' them when the car is valeted....I HATE valet parking....Had a Mercedes SUV that was delivered back to me as half a Mercedes SUV......And to add insult to injury they claimed they hadn't done it!!!! (car was barely driveable, and still had half the wall on it!!)
