Rear ended someone with my 997 4s, how bad is the damage?

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately I rear ended a cab in NYC yesterday with some front damage
I have collision insurance with a $1,000 deductible. Any estimates on the damage and should I just file a claim or pay out of my own pocket?

Additionally, any shop recommendations for the repair? Searching the forum I found the following

Technik One in Manhattan
Numme Auto Body & Fender Repair in Port Chester NY
Finish Line in Valley Stream NY
Star service in LIC

Anybody has recent experience with the shops above for a similar repair?

Welcome to Renntech :welcome:

You need to get a qualified body shop to look at the car and give you a breakdown on what is damaged, it is nearly impossible to estimate what is required from photos as they do not show the damge beneath the body work (supports, braces, etc.).

Perhaps one of our North Jersey/NYC/Lower NY state members can chime in on good shop references.

Isn't Technik One in Hells Kitchen?  They are doing mostly car stereo install, tints, and detailing types of work?  You might want to consider someone that specifically does Porsche body work.  As already stated, it's anyone's guess what the cost will be since pictures alone won't tell you much other than I can see it's a substantial amount of damage.  I'm guessing it could be $5K+.

Technik One huh? I know those guys. Okay so we're looking at a bumper replacement along with the rebar and brackets, let's assume the headlamps housings are cracked along the bottom behind the bumper, the 2 heat exchangers up front and the related air guides, the frunk lid and latch, blend the fenders assuming they're not damaged, set up the car and measure it out make sure the unibody is straight and if not a little pull time, labor, paint & materials, my educated guess is you're in for $9-$10.5k

Depending if your fender is bend or any other structural damage.

A second hand fender eBay is cheap and a front hood you might find cheap as well.

I would get a detailed analysis from a person who does Porsches, but 1500 USD is quickly gone.

If only a front bumper to be repaired and a front hood to be replaced you might get away under 3000 USD depending how much they charge to paint.

Fingers crossed.
