  1. After reading your other topic I would be very surprised if one or both gaskets of the intermediate plate are leaking but have seen fluid migration through the bolt threads often caused by heat cycling. I would recommend throughly cleaning the area, removing the bolts one at a time, cleaning the thread of bolts and case then using an anaerobic type sealant on the threads and torquing to proper specs. Also verify the transmission vent is free and fluid level correct.
  2. I have seen the contact area that engages the fuses in the fuse block become overheated, lose tension and create an intermittent connection.
  3. I don't understand why anyone would worry about an issue like this, if something breaks- fix it. Yes it's very expensive if not caught in time but many other manufacturers have issues that are just as expensive and occur much more often than the IMS brng. If you're going to lose sleep over the issue purchase a warranty.
  4. Almost every cayenne I have seen has this problem, my own included. I removed it, soaked in hot water, stretched it gently and reinstalled. It fit correctly but only lasted a week or so before returning to it's original size.
  5. I just buy the latest coil from the local VW dealer, think I paid $25/coil CDN last time.
  6. It does sound like a valve body fault with the rpm flare between shifts.
  7. If the A/C system is low on freon it will exhibit this fault.
  8. The main engine timing chain tensioner can give issues and cause noise, it's easy to replace so start there. The timing chain between the camshafts is another matter. Possible to get a sound clip?
  9. Do you have any fault codes? The Cayenne doesn't use a idle speed motor but an electronic throttle plate controlled via the DME, it wouldn't hurt to clean it. It's best to use a smoke machine to fault trace vacuum leaks. Could you be more descriptive about the issue you are having? You shouldn't be having any pinking at idle but only under load.
  10. And better gas milage too!!! If only these stupid engineers at Porsche knew of this amazing technology.....
  11. The Cayenne also doesn't have a cold start injector. Do you hear the fuel pumps prime when you open the drivers door?
  12. Instead of guessing and throwing parts at the vehicle, why not check for fault codes?
  13. You'll need to access transmission fault codes whilst the problem is occurring, if you shut the ignition off before hand it might not store the codes depending on the fault conditions.
  14. Inspect the magnets for the hall effect switches located under the upper shifter housing. I seen loose change dislodge the magnets or sometimes they just break free and need to be glued back into place.
  15. I have seen damage to the rear wiring harness and sensors from road debris. Is your Durametric software up to date?
