  1. It is essential to note the error codes, which undoubtedly exist because the "check engine" light comes on, without faultcodes it stil a guess and can be expensive.
  2. Most is not really a module, it is a kind of a light (sender) and a light sensitive sensor (receiver) both housed inside the PCM unit. In other words, the system begins and ends inside the PCM.
  3. I would also like to see the letter, very interesting topic.
  4. Are all of the yellow connectors, under and on de backside of the seat, removed and the wiring soldered? If yes, check the battery, load tested etc. A lesser battery gets all sorts of weird symptoms, including airbag faults.
  5. Use the dipstick on the engine in order to measure the oil level, this is the only right way to go. The sensor is just a warning, because your Cayenne does not have a full oil check system feature such as the flat six engines as 986/87 - 996/97 - etc. use. Top up to full mark if the level came just below half full (between low and full mark) Mobil 1 "High Mileage" we do not know over here, so i can not provide guidance about it.
  6. Given the misfires on cylinders 1 - 2 and 3, could be that you've hit the wires or sensors when replacing the alternator, which is indeed on the same cylinder bank. You never know.
  7. The way you test the lifters is not acceptable, some are already empty and other there is still oil in it, therefore there may be some to be pressed and others not. They must all immersed in an oil bath and be inflated with oil, only after a long time standing in the oil, as they all are vented and thus full of oil, you can start testing.
  8. For normal operation with minimum power drain ( approx. 0.03 0.04 Amps.) the car should always closed by the remote. Under all other conditions remain a number of control boxes in stand by mode, and not in the needed sleep mode. This may lead to a higher power drain.
  9. If you cant find error codes, take a look if the thinnest wire on the starter motor is loose or fallen off.
  10. The service information speaks of one harness, differend on MY 05 and MY 06, running from airbag control unit lockated under the center console to the connector behind the side panel in front of the door. I cant see the need of a harnees replacement inside the door, otherwise there was need on at least two harnesses. This is what i undersand from the service information.
  11. Maybe there is something wrong with the oil filter and/or the valve inside the filterhousing, and comes empty at a longer standstill. The filterhousing is mounted upside down on this type of engine.
  12. The error is in the door lock, microswitch defective. Use the search button on top of the page and you will find lots of info about this problem.
  13. Just let the car reprogramming, this will solve your problem.
  14. This issue has been discussed several times, this is a normal phenomenon with cold tires and lower outdoor temperatures. Once the front tires are warmed up, will reduce the scratching. Do a search in the 986/996/987/997 forums and you will undoubtedly find much more inf about this issue.
  15. The left brake light is operated directly from the brake pedal switch, the right and 3rd brake light is operated via rear control box (ROW - LHD). I would check the wiring from the tail to, and the rear control box itself to start with.
  16. The basic settings are done manually as Agustin Alvarez register, the auto levelling sensors do the rest.
  17. The engine should not be used as a jacking point if the car is equipped with hydraulic engine mounts which is the case for non mod. 996/7 C2/4. The risk of damage to the hydraulic mounts is present, they have been designed to carry hanging weight (engine). If you use the engine as a jacking point, the mounts are pressed, where they are not designed for, with a much higher weight namely the entire rear end of the car.
  18. Good that you have found the flaw, now you know that the keyfob was the culprit.
  19. I would change back to the old motor and see what it gives, the donor motor exhibited probably some shortcommings.
  20. Most of the time are leaking pumps the culprit (# 4 in Loren's diagram) Oil is looking for a way down and drips along the mud flap on the ground.
  21. Anyone who has the necessary diagnostic equipment available can change the settings of the automatic door lock, i thought a MY 2000 C2 was not yet available to the programmable DRL, i can however mistaken there are several options depending on the country, etc.
  22. It seems that the key codes are not transferred into the new alarm module, i understand from your post that the car was at the dealer for programming, they have no test done after programming? That sounds weird to me.

  24. If the battery is not charging there will be done more than just replace the battery. I would urgently checked the charging system if i were you.
