Do I have PSE?

Hi all,

Just joined this community, and this is my first post! Nice to meet you all.

I've recently bought a 2006 C2S with Chrono Sports Package Plus, but I'm not sure if it's equipped with the sports exhaust option.

I understand that since the PSE (in installed) would be activated by the Chrono Sports button, there isn't a separate button (with the twin-pipe-tip logo) for it. When I activate the Sports mode, I do not hear any different and it doesn't sound like a sport exhaust.

Is there a visual / electronic way to confirm if the PSE is installed?

From the 2006 Order Guide...

"Sport Chrono Package Plus

Package includes analog and digital chronometer, sport button in the center console and display in the PCM , also adds ability to adjust lighting, wipers, AC and door locking to suit personal preference."

I do not see any mention of PSE - check your options list for option IXLF.

It's suppose to be a added/retrofit by the previous owner, so it doesn't show up on the option list.

Is there anyway to tell from the physical look of the exhaust / pipes?

get underneath the back Rt rear of the car and look up at the muffler. There should be an arm you can see going into the muffler which closes a valve. It is a very expensive retrofit - $3,000 for each OEM muffler and that's w/o the electrical wiring.

Standard = 1 exhaust pipe coming to dual or single exhaust tips

Sorry, but that is wrong - you can put whatever types of tips on either exhaust.

I think we misunderstand each other here I was refering to factory parts and not aftermarket

_Factory standard exhaust have a single exhaust pipe coming to the tips ( per side of course) with the option to have the oval exhaust tips in chrome for the Carrera or a dual exhaust tip for the Carrera S, option being also to have it chromed for the carrera S

_The Porsche Sport Exhaust ( orignial porsche not aftermarket ) has dual exhaust pipe ( per side so 4 in total ) + the dual exhaust tips ( per side) this is what I have on my car

Anyway the factory PSE can be recognized easily by the 2 diameters on the exhaust tips, one small one big on the outter side

Of course with aftermarket stuff everything is possible

I have an '04 C2 with factory PSE and I have the oval exhaust tips.

I think it's pretty much confirmed that I don't have the PSE. The current exhaust only has 1 pipe per side, connecting to the dual tip.

Looks like my first mod will be the PSE or Tubi!

For that kind of money you have to be crazy. Just go online to Fabspeed and get their exhaust for your car. You will loose 15 lb at the back and get great sound. Their stuff is also very well made and the fit is perfect.

The nice thing about the OEM PSE though is that you can control the "noise". When my wife is in the car, i leave it in the quiet mode. When she is not, I push the "Sport" button and have my "noise. Ordered with the car is/was about $2500+. Added on after the fact is about $3000+. Since my 08C2S didn't have it originally, I bought my PSE cans off of eBay for $900 including the PSE tips. I bought the install package (wiring, etc.) from Sunset Porsche for about $360 and did the install myself. FWIW......

Very true brendel and, my wife thinks the car is "noisy" in the quiet mode. Oh well, I'll leave her to her Prius :jump:

My wife is far more concerned about going down a back road at 80 mph than she is about the noise level. I guess we are back to the Prius!!

Seriously, I sold my 2001 TT because it was too much like driving a Toyota and not enough like driving a 911. If you want quiet get a BMW or even better an Oldsmobile if you don't like beer.

Well, while we are on the subject, when I stated I have oval Exhuast tips what I really meant was that the actual exhaust pipe is oval and hence I cannot seem to find dual tips that will accommodate the oval pipe. Am I the only one with this set up?
