I bought a used 1999 Boxster recently; the radio previously worked & it has a Radio Code Card ..... but in clearing a CEL code [that another story .... ], I disconnected the battery for 5 minutes. Now it won't take the code..........

the card has >>>

Becker CDR 220

BE 4462

serial # Y5016498

says code is "1270" ............ anything I need to know why this might not now work?

I'll try the serial number search method I've read about in other links to make sure this is the right card for the currently installed radio............

Thank you for any help you can give,

Dux

My program cam up with a code 2 digits different - 1268

Let us know which one works.

Hi,

Please I need code for CDR-220 Model#: BE6625 serial:25013693 10 presets. This is for a 2002 Boxster with Bose system and a CD-3 6-disk changer.

I have tried using a program to generate the 4-digit code and the program is giving me code 4463. I entered this number 3 times and the radio started displaying WAIT and stayed like that for a couple hours and then the Code **** displayed again.

Thanks

I found the program somewhere on the web. It allows you to chose one of 4 different modes "Becker 4 buttons", "Becker 6 buttons", "Becker 8 buttons" or "Becker 4-digits". Allows you to enter the serial number (4-digits) and displays the Unlock code underneith. It is made by www.elcar.sk.

I don't have the card. I purchased the car through my friend who happens to be a car dealer. He bought it from Porsche Finance.

Looking at this thread, I have tried 4461, 4463 and 4465 with no success. I will have to wait a bit and try other adjacent numbers unless you have another idea.

Thanks for the reply,

Fredo

I pulled the radio out and got the serial number. I also used the TP on the radio and it gave me the same serial number.

Neither of those codes worked. Any other possibilities? Thanks
My program does not always work. It works maybe 95% of the time but I have no expanation why it doesn't always work.

At this point you will need to contact a dealer or Becker. Becker charges to lookup your code and some dealers do too.

Loren:

I have been directed to seek out help from the Porsche forum. Radio code issue, I never received a manual so I don't have a serial number. I understand that I might have to pull the radio, but in your earlier post I noticed if I have either a VIN or a radio serial I can obtain a code through my local dealer. I want to avoid having to pull the radio.

I know there are a lot of posts here... but back a few pages (as well as in your radio manual) it tells you how to display the serial number on the radio display. You do not need the code to display the serial number.

Thanks Loren! I am new to this message board and don't intend to belabor this radio code issue, as I have read 164 posts (you are very patient), plus downloaded the radio users guide that was referenced in one of the posts. I am still not getting it....I have a "CR-210" with the removable face plate, with the CD chg'r in the trunk. But no knobs to turn to find the serial number as mentioned in post #30. So I am at a loss as how to bring up the serial #. I hold down the TP button, nothing seems to happen. I will try again tomorrow or bring the car back to the mechanic and have him deal with it. As it worked when I left the car with him. I didn't realize disconnecting the battery would render the sound system inoperable. They are certified Porsche shop here in San Francisco, they must know. Thanks again.

Try this. Push the tone button then immediately push 8 and 0 at the same time and the display should show BECKER. Then push the tuning toggle button up until you see serial number. Then press the right arrow key.

Either I am a complete imbecile or the codes don't work. Is there another set of codes?
Please read some of the other posts here -- sometimes my code program does not work (or people give me the wrong serial number).

In either case you need to contact a dealer or Becker. Becker charges for the service - some dealers charge also.

Installed a new alpine radio to replace my factory Porsche radio I kept the factory Bose sound system and the factory steering wheel controls still work!
I think it looks pretty nice, very ecstatic about the new radio look.
      Easy to do

When I turn the radio on, all it says is 'wait'. How do I get to the 'code' screen?
      I have a type 4462
      Serial # 15077232
What would the code be to unlock radio?
Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Hello. This is my first time posting as this is my first issue with my 2006 Cayenne S and this is also my first Porsche. The vehicle had an aftermarket radio in it when I purchased it and I changed that radio for another one that supported Apple CarPlay. both units are made by pioneer and after looking at the backs of them it appears to be plug and play. I changed everything out and fired it up and everything was great. No issues or errors and the sound worked fine and calls worked fine. The previous installer used only twisted ends and electrical tape to secure the wiring so I took the wiring apart and used wire nuts to make sure nothing came apart while it was being installed and for longevity. After starting the car back up, I received a brake proportioning fault and an oil pressure fault and it told me workshop fault as well. I pulled fuse 40 as I heard it resets the system and plugged it back in. The brake proportioning fault is gone but the oil pressure fault remains. I double checked my wiring work to make sure that I was not missing anything and nothing had come back apart. Everything is indeed attached and plugged in.

Now that I have finished my long-winded story, was this fault caused because I knocked something loose or because I left the fiber optic cabling unplugged for too long. I noticed that there was a red light coming from the input and of the fiber optic cabling a couple of times while I was rewiring it. Do I just need to reset this system using a better method or do you think something is wrong with it?

Any help would be appreciated and I intend on donating to this forum and website as it seems to be a true source of knowledge and help for the DIY Porsche enthusiast. Thank you in advance and I look forward to your responses.

Which radios fitted to Porsche can have their unlock code recovered through serial number?
      - CR-220/CDR-220 - Becker
      - CR-210/CDR-210 - Becker
      - Traffic Pro NAV/CD - Becker

Which radios can not have their unlock code recovered through serial number?
      - CR1 - Alpine
      - CDR-23/24 (or later) - Becker
      - PCM (Porsche Communication Management) – Siemens & Becker

How to get your radio serial number?
      CR-220/CDR-220:
Hold down the TP button for at least 10 seconds after you turn the radio on. "Becker 1" will be displayed. Rotate the right knob (slowly) and it will display the Becker model number. Then rotate it again and the serial number should be displayed on the radio.
Or, if the radio is out of the car the then the serial number is on the label.

      CR-210/CDR-210:
Press tone, then 8 and 0 simultaneously. "Becker" appears. Press station up arrow on right. "PR-VERS" appears. Press one of the numbered buttons below the display, directly below the LCD arrowheads (try a few). The model number will appear. Press station up arrow on right. "SERIAL N" will appear. Press the numbered button again. The serial number will appear.
Or, if the radio is out of the car the then the serial number is on the label.

      CDR-23 (or later):
These radios do not have a security code - that is, not that the user enters.
These radios are security tested on the MOST (fiber optic bus) system to see if they are the "programmed" radio. The radios are programmed and recognized by the car’s DME and can only be replaced by a shop with a PST2 or PIWIS. These radios will not request a code when battery power is disconnected.

      Traffic Pro:
Select the Service Menu, press NAV and multifunction key 10 simultaneously in radio mode. Use multifunction keys Nxt and Prv or turn the right control knob to select the individual items.
You can move through the following items:
      - Model-No.
      - Serial-No. <-- this is what we need
      - Changer Reset
      - GAL
      - Radio Software
      - Radio Bolo
      - Navi Rom
      - Navi Flash
      - RTC Value
To quit the service menu, press END.

I get a WAIT on the display - what do I do?
You have to wait at least 30 minutes before trying again.

The suggested number did not work - what do I do now?
Most often when the code we give you does not work it is because the serial number came from an old card in the car rather than from the procedure stated above - or a typo in the serial number submitted. Double check the serial number you submitted using the procedure above again.
If that does not work then you will need to contact a dealer or Becker. Becker charges to look up your code and some dealers also charge.
Our program works maybe 99.9% of the time but we have no explanation why it doesn't always work.

Can you give me a code for my PCM?
These units are manufactured jointly by Siemens and Becker, and the only place where you can get the codes required is from the dealer/OPC. The PCM’s require two codes, the ICS/Siemens code, and a Becker code. The ICS is the first code requested.
Sorry, the only place you can get a PCM code is from a dealer/OPC.

Can I post my VIN to get a code?
We do NOT need your VIN - only your radio serial number.

Where can I post my lost code request?
      Please post your request here:
Lost Radio Code - post your request here

Please DO NOT PM me or email me (or anyone else helping with the codes) your radio code request - we will only answer requests in that one thread.
