I just hit 155k on the original engine and transmission.

I am happy for you :D . Good car.

BTW, what is the year and model of your car? Have you ever tracked or raced it?

it's a 99. It had 54k when I bought it and I've never raced her.

I'm at 102,000 with no issues. New water pump at 90,000 just because it's a good idea. Still runs strong. I'd love to get it on a dyno and see how much power is lost from new spec. 3.4 with tip. daily driver around 10k a year since I bought 2.5 years ago. Maintained by the book since new.

'99 996 C2 3.4 6spd. 60k, Nothing major, just replaced pads and rotors, replaced cab. lid hinge. Original clutch. Ferry would be proud, have put 8k on since 9-09. It's fun - drive it. If it breaks, fix it.

While the thread is asking about original engine, figured I would post anyway. Original engine on my '99 996 had 76,000 on it when I replaced it with a reman, I have since put 66,000 on the re-manufactured engine. 142,000 on the car, with original transmission and clutch, but will soon have to replace those. Its been a fun daily driver for the last 7 years. Would love to upgrade but my mechanic tells me I am married to the car since I replaced the engine. He is probably right, as it appears that it has plenty of years left in it at this point. Recently replaced the struts/shocks and strut arms. The control arms need replacing as well, but haven't gotten to them yet. Still haven't had to mess with the RMS.

2000 Cab - daily driver in Atlanta suburban traffic.

107,000 miles. Other than replacing of the coolant tank myself, have just experienced the first engine related repair .... failed air / oil separator.

Have 70k miles (116k km) on my 99 996. This is an early model as it was built in February 1998. Bought the car last year.

This summer I tried going from 6th to 3rd doing about 55mph to pass some cars. I never do this but wanted to try it, big mistake! I think this caused a broken valve because 3 miles later the engine lost power. It was a broken valve. The engine was rebuilt by a Porsche dealer. It was found that the RMS and IMS were fine but I upgraded them just in case, the oil separator was beginning to fail and there was a lot of carbon buildup. The engine runs like new now. So I should be good for another 100k.

See my blog on 'engine failure'.

112K on my 2000 C4 Cab Tip.

Water pump replaced, spark plug tubes replaced one side, coolant tank replaced at 80K. Winter project: drop engine/trans, RMS+IMS upgrade, tubes and plugs, AOS, belt, trans fluid + gaskets, CV boots all four corners, general cleanup.

I expect to throw a reman tip in at about 140k, but who knows as it is doing great now.

I really hope that this C4 can be a poster child for Porsche longevity! Knock on wood...

'99 C2 - 115,000km, no mechanical issues, a great car but with terrible resale value.. I just sold mine here in Germany for 50% what I paid for it four years ago.

My 996 cost 7600 euro annually ($10,050) for devaluation, insurances, parts & service, thats 30% of purchase price annually! Thank god I didnt experience an engine failure as well!

996's have a very poor reputation because it is not clear how many cars have had engine failures. The only source that could provide the insight that owners and the market needs is PORSCHE itself. PORSCHE PR needs to be honest and make a clear statement.

I enjoyed my 996 very much, can afford to buy a new 997 now but will find an alternative, I refuse to spend money with a brand that is not being honest with its customers.
