> Therapy Session
Posted by whs - Sep 5 2008, 01:03 PM - 2 comments
Anybody else use their car for a therapy session on occasion? My mom called this morning and told me that my grandfather passed away this morning. After a 2 1/2 hour spirited drive through the country I felt a lot better. It's not just a car!

> Deck Lid/Spoiler Dash LED - Gemballa Spoiler
Posted by Doug996InKC - Sep 5 2008, 08:35 AM - 1 comments
I just purchased my first Porsche - a 2000 911 C2 Cabriolet (attached)

A few questions on the Gemballa spoiler:

1. The spoiler dash light turns on and off periodically, even when traveling between 30 and 45 MPH. Is there a way to override the sensor, since there's no moving spoiler anymore?
2. The engine release lever doesn't actually "release". I have to pull it and have my wife lift up the wing to I can get to the engine (she wasn't too happy about that "this is a Porsche!" is all I heard...) Any way to make that release? Install a different shock or something?

Thanks!

> Quick Question - Is the K&N filter as good as BMC?
Posted by gandrade1 - Sep 5 2008, 08:29 AM - 4 comments
Hi guys,

It is time for me to replace the air filter on my '01 Boxster and I am considering adding a non-paper filter.

The guy I source some of my parts from no longer carries the BMC element since he said the K&N is as good as for a fraction of the price. $34 for the K&N, $90 for the BMC.

Are both filters equivalent?

On another note, any reason I should stick with the paper (OEM) filter - I like the induction noise and will let the oiled filter rest for a while wrapped in newspaper if I decide to go that route? Anything else that could go wrong with these?

Thanks,
Gus

> Front Plate Mount
Posted by Jean - Sep 5 2008, 04:11 AM - 0 comments
Hi all, I have a front plate mount for those who do not wish to drill any holes into their bumper .
It consists of a machined aluminum bolt which threads into the front tow hook inlet and a heavy duty bracket to which the plate is attached.

It installs in just a few minutes and absolutely nothing touches the bumper.

Many have bought the kit to just pass inspection or for a "fix it" ticket .

I t fits all recent model 911's and Boxter /Caymans
and sells for $ 37.50 ( including shipping in US )

If anyone is interested in one, you can e-mail me at:
